im looking to get my dsg box remapped, mostly because D is uselessly lazy and sport is too manic for daily driving - there are usually 2 gears between D and S and ideally D would be 1 gear lower for me.

there are loads of options including:
Celtic tuning - seems to offer complete customisation
APR - ? not dq500
Revo
MRC
Custom Code levels 1,2, 3

im wondering how many of these companies actually create the maps or buy them in
any experience good and bad of any dq500 remaps
im likely to be stage2+ very shortly so need a map to suit, and possibly TTE625 later on

I would look very carefully at your options on DSG maps. I consider gearbox maps more dangerous that engine maps. They are very expensive to repair/replace if they go wrong and are almost more complicated in their design.

TSV are the leaders.
I am using Unitronic stage 2 TCU tune mainly because I have their engine tune as well.
Both highly regarded companies and design their own tunes.

Have a look at what Rick at Unicorn Motor developments can offer.

Totally agree with the underlined above, why didn't Audi provide an additional gearbox map something between D and S...

Thats the first thing I missed coming from AMG which has economy, sport, sport+ and race.

I spend a lot of time using the shifter to change from eco to sport and back. Atleast its an easy switch.

so after quite a few conversations, turns out that most of the dsg remaps dont do much for the dq500 - the long list of mods listed by the tuners is mostly for the dq250 and they seem to change only the speed of gearchange, torque limit and gearbox rev limiter for the dq500, possibly with the removal of upshift in manual, except TSV who have completely remapped it but charge around £1000 plus vat for their stage3.
