Evening all
bit of a strange one today so thought i'd ask the question.

Current UK driving licence driving catergories.
I recently had to request a new Licence as my original one piece paper item was looking a tad torn and battered so requested a replacement from the appropriate Gov dept....sent them my old one and a new photo for the new plastic card type, job done .
Anyway I always take a copy of important paper documents just in case , received the new item very quickly and just stuck it my wallet assuming that was it.

I need to hire a largish lorry for some work and I know my original licence had Cat A / B / B E/ C1 E / D1 E/ E / F / K /L/N/and P , which would cover me for 7.5 t lorry plus a trailer ontop .
Went to book a wagon and the guy said sorry you cant drive this as you don't have a licence to cover it, which I did , well thought I did.

So had to double check my new plastic card jobby, and half the catergories are missing , I've lost A/C1/D1/E .
Anyone else encountered this issue, really annoying as I do have the entiltlement as it was on my old paper licence but it has been omitted on the new one.
Tried the dept that deal with licencing but cant get any joy.
Worse case I do have a copy of the original but that's not an official document, have I missed some sort of legislation or what.

any help info would be greatfully received.

I seem to remember someone else mentioning something similar to me a few years back. If I remember right the standard entitlement changed. You may have just gave up.your super special one by getting a replacement.

Seems like the appropriate gov dept have made a messup with my plastic card version.
Just logged into the .GOV site and after a few minutes creating a safe login account I have been able to check the status of my licence.
Seems my super fandango new item is wrong so clearly a mistake in someones dept....:wtf:

I do have all the entitlements after all plus a few more now due to upgrades or something, so will be giving someone in the appropriate Gov dept an ear bending on Monday...
In the meantime a big thumbs up to Barryg for the info and link, really appreciated , I can sleep easier now I know I hav'nt been downgraded and I can get myself a truck organised.
Wasn't happy at the thought of loosing them let alone my full bike licence entitlement.

cheers all

No worries, glad all sorted.

I’m sure if you print off a copy from online that should be accepted by the truck company. This online check basically replaces the paper part that used to accompany the photo card. You can just print it off as required and it’s valid for around 20days I’m sure as proof of entitlement.

Just as an update on this one, had words with the dept concerned and vented my frustration and anger at them over the matter, seems that there was a technical problem and a lot of drivers have been affected.
So they are sending me out a replacement with the correct entitlement free of charge, I wasn't going to pay anyway for their mistake, so just double check your licences chaps just in case you have incorrect data on them.
