Buyer Dilemma - what would you do ?

Two Black Edition MY19 Avants. Different garages, both been driven by employees of the respective Groups.

1. 3.8k mileage. Optional extra Panoramic Sunroof

2. 7.3k mileage. Optional extra Tech pack (VC) and Extended LED interior lights.

Cost to change favours car 1. by £200 - £300.

Would you take the lower mileage car or go for the one with the tech pack (VC) ?

Would be keeping the car 4-5 years so would there be much it in residuals wise ? Obviously the garage selling the car with the tech pack thinks tech pack would be greatly advantageous. Looking at Audi Used Approved there might be something in it.

Without VC - interior even more outdated Vs the MY20 facelift.

Any opinions gratefully received.

I honestly think it's up to you. The mileage looks pretty irrelevant to me if you are keeping it a decent length of time.

Assuming you are comfortably living within your means then the £200 difference over that ownership length is pretty irrelevant too.

So it only comes down to the extras. (Assuming engines and condition the same which you haven't mentioned)

I'd say Tech pack and VC will be more popular for sale in 4 years than the roof. In fact in 4 years I'd say people will turn their nose up at cars without VC as itll be very commonplace by then.

What’s more important to you?

Tech Pack and VC is a nice combination IMO and would get my vote over a sunroof personally.

Interior LED was real nice on my B9 as I hate bright things causing glare on my glasses. I had it set to a nice red hue which did not reflect as much. White LEDs just don’t do it for me.

Have a play with both systems (non tech and tech) and see what you think. The build in HDD nav is quick and works great, particularly with traffic built in there was never a need for me to use nav on my phone. Make sure they give you good license periods on the both, not sure if they ever got around to monetising this.

Yes engine, gearbox and infact colour the same, condition pretty much.
£200-300 is not really relevant to my decision-it was for background.
Think it’s that bit of “future proofing” (to an extent) with the tech / VC that is swaying me.
 
I've got a pan roof. Doesn't get used in winter get lots of use in summer. Creaks and squeaks a fair bit. I would go for tech pack and extended led which looks great at night. Makes the interior.

Tech pack, you won't miss having a sun roof but you'll probably regret not having the pack...

I think I’m a bit anal about mileage ! I’m used to having a low mileage car. 7k since March, in the one with the Tech Pack, is a fair whack to kick off with..
 
Tech Pack car, 100%. You get 5 free sat nav map updates, without the tech pack it’s £300 a time for a new sd card - so a single updated map purchase and your cost saving on that nom-tech pack car has gone!

The larger screen with the tech pack and VC make the interior a much nicer place to live.

Another vote for Tech Pack.

Don't worry about mileage. I had a B6 Avant from new, it departed the family with 210,000 miles on the clock. Only major expenditure was the usual Dual Mass Flywheel, other wise trouble free motoring.

Well it’s pretty emphatic at the moment. Not a single “vote” for the lower mileage option.

Theres plenty of Audi's on here doing 1,000 miles a week. My C7 FL has just turned 116,000
The 3k difference between your two isn't a factor I would consider. Go with your gut feeling.
I know the extended LED and VC will give the car a completely different feel at night.
Post a pick when you have decided ;) You don't fancy an A6 Avant Black Edition then....

Gut feeling has always been to get one with at least the VC to be honest.
 
It’s looking like the cost to change is ultimately going to favour the car with the tech pack so looking like a bit of a no brainer once I’m “over” the mileage.

In addition, I could be pushing 7k CTC difference on what a MY20 facelift would cost me (CarWow). Realise the residuals are going to heavily favour the facelift but I do kind of prefer the look of the pre-facelift, particularly the rear.
 
I understand about your fixation with mileage as I’m the same. However, in this case these are such low mileages and what’s a difference of 3-4k? I’d go with the tech pack and the mileage difference wouldn’t even figure in my deliberations as it’s so trivial.

Thanks for the input. Should be collecting the car with the tech pack next week, came in a decent amount under the other one in the end, which is a bonus.

Well here’s one from when I stopped off on the test drive - they let me go out on my own, which was good. Glacier White wouldn’t have been my first choice but always thought white (black edition) suits the Avant more than some colours somehow.

I love my pano roof but if it was a choice between the two then definitely the Tech Pack. You stare at your instrument cluster all day long and the Extended LED changes the entire interior feel at this time of year.

I'm on my third white Avant on the bounce - definitely one of the better Black Edition Colours.
This will be the longest week of your life :)
