I see more and more references to activation of features using the OBD11. For 'home' use, is it perhaps of age now and better to have than a VCDS? What are users' thoughts?

I bought a VCDS cable with three VIN use not giving the future much thought. Lent it to a friend who used a VIN and now have two new VAG cars! As an upgrade for another 10 VINS is £169, I am thinking an OBD11 is maybe a better buy...

I've got an OBDEleven and find it fine - Having never used VCDS I can't compare but on my Golf GTI I managed to enable...

Fog lights on with main beam
Display fan speed with climate control set to auto

Also lots of checking and resetting fault codes etc.

Dead easy to use although with it being of eastern European origin, the forums have a lot of posts in other languages.

No problems with mine but I'm not sure it does everything that VCDS does

OBDeleven here and it does practically anything VCDS can do at a fraction of the price.
Users complain about the in app purchases of credits, but you can get 6 free credits daily and you only use the credits if you don’t like or know how to do long coding and adaptations.
It can be used on multiple vehicles which can be stored in the software garage.
The only downside to OBDeleven is no (full) iOS support but I’m happy enough with my cheap Samsung Galaxy tab for this sole purpose.

Thanks!
I believe that the OBD11 cannot do complicated coding that the VCDS does, but not a problem for me - anything out of the ordinary when it comes to electronics/computing - leave well alone:playful:. I do like the user friendly part of it too.
I have a question out to OBD11 regarding functionality on an iphone, but no reply as yet. I will need it to work on IOS, but I guess I could get an cheap Android for the application.
The next question - For the difference in price, it might nake sense to get the Pro version - is this any more difficult to use, or the same?

Oh you should get the pro version without a doubt.
It allows Long coding, adaptations, live data & output tests.

Thanks again.
Had a quick chat with them. It appears that the Pro features are not yet released for IOS, but they offer full support for basic features. saying it is safe to proceed and wait a little longer...
I will be a bit peeved if they end up not offering the Pro features on IOS and end up buying a new device for Android!

Ah yes! I use the previous gen with Android.
I’m iOS through and through but think this new gen is not worth the extra at all.
