Ok so I’ve been trying to find out if the two above cars share identical parts etc, I know there are basically the same car apart from a few tweaks.

I’m just trying to find out if the bushes, engine mounts, exhaust and most components are the same underneath.

I’ve been on various websites and some none OEM part numbers are the same for some bits and not for others depending on brand.

I can get hold of some Golf 7R aftermarket parts quite cheaply but wanted to be 100% with the fitment.
 
I'd be surprised if all the suspension components are the same. If they were, then the S3 would handle as good as the Golf, which it doesn't.

Most of the hardware will be the same, but after that, VW, Audi, Seat etc will do their own suspensions.

I might be wrong of course.

Well I know that the R has tighter bushes etc but there obviously uprated.

I would have thought that everything else would be near the same.
 
I wonder what the long term cost of ownership between the two would be like???

im interested now to see what golf aspects could be added to improve the S3 handling, I have heard the golf was slightly better but assumed that was the Lardy AUDI build that added weight, just assumed the suspension was the same. Ill look into the gold bushes / ARBs to see if there are differences.

probably not a lot in it if work was carried out by independents but I bet my bottom dollar that if the like for like was compared between the Audi vs the VW service network it would be night and day - as would the customer satisfaction...…..

I’m looking at up rating all the bushes & mounts etc and can get hold a Golf 7R full kit significantly cheaper than a S3 kit.

A mate of mine used to work for VW, he said the quicker they get the job done the more bonus they would get! No incentive to do the job 100% how it should be done!!! and they get another bonus if they say things need doing and the customer agrees to have them done.
 
Can we keep this on topic as I’m after relevant answers etc.
 
The rear anti roll bar is the same fitment between the golf R and S3

Cheers mate. I’ve been on APRs website and there exhausts are the same. There drop links and roll bars are the same.

I’m sure they will be the same, just really wanting something concrete.

Yep, I fitted the SuperPro RARB to my S3 and that is the same part for the Golf and S3. Drop links are the same as you mentioned too. I'd probably bet the front ARB is the same too

It’s the powerflex handling kit I was looking at fitting. I’m sure they will be the same.
 
As long as bottom arms are the same too then all the bushes must be. Not an oem way of checking but perhaps checking pattern part numbers on gsf for both could confirm.
