The A3 looks a bit lower at the rear for some time now. Maybe the springs are becoming compressed over time or both springs have snapped. It’s MOT time this afternoon so I guesse I’ll find out.
It’s on Sline suspension with 17” wheels.

The rear does sit lower than the front. Whether that's due to shorter springs in the rear or the way the wheel arch is designed I'm not sure.

I asked the mot tester to have a close look at them, at first look he said they were ok and the car was a pass :rockwoot:
While it was a still on the ramps I asked to have a look myself and see if anything else could be causing the droop, had a feel inside the springcup and could feel what I thought was a stone. He then had another look with a mirror and said........”yes it’s a broken spring and the same on the other spring, unfortunately it’s also a Fail” :confusion:
Perhaps I shouldn’t have said anything but at least I know what the problem is. Went straight to the local Audi parts man and ordered new springs, should be picking them up tomorrow and fitting them.

Sort of makes the MOT a bit of a waste of time. I had an advisory note that the hand brake cable was frayed on my van 6 years ago, since then its passed at the same Garage every year with no mention...

I think MOT is a good idea, how many dangerous cars would be on the road if there was no testing. You only have to go to an undeveloped country with no testing at all to see the state of their motors.
Anyway back to the job in hand. The parts dept only ordered one spring so had to wait till this morning to collect the second spring and fit them. All done now and MOT passed its retest.
Prize for guessing which is one of the new springs in the photo and how she stands now she’s fixed. Now more scraping the tow bar on humps in the road with the trailer in tow.
