One of the folding motors for the mirrors was acting up, so went out and bought a used Mirror, the whole unit. I took it apart and noticed that the motor that controls the mirror position has 4 more wires going to into to so in total 8 wires wile the original has only 4, so figured this is for the tilt function. Now my question is if i plug it in as is will the tilt function work?

From previous threads on the B7 tilting subject , it can be done from an oem standpoint, wether that is the case via an aftermarket control unit remains to be seen.

I have done aftermarket, but OEM always tastes better..

I believe the "tilt on reverse" function was only available if you had electric memory seats. Possibly would need the control unit that stores the position, same as the one that stores the seat position maybe?

Just a thought

My 2 cents is dont bother with tilt function, its alright when reversing next to a curb but others wise just points at the floor

My old Audi had electric memory seats and the neat tilt door mirror function when reversing.

I made the function along with the mirror folding option, actually very useful. But you know OEM is always better.

I agree for reverse round a corner for parallel parking etc its a handy feature, but can get annoying when trying to reverse in a straight line.

Id thought about it a couple of times but decided against is in the end.

Anyhoo, what door modules do you have fitted? I fitted the S4 modules when i fitted powerfold mirrors that cover all accessories

I have the standard door modules, so you have tilt Mirror and FOB closing mirrors?

I have neither of those features, as i dont have memory seats and the folding mirrors on the fob isnt a b7 option.

However the fob folding mirrors would be a nice extra to my power fold mirrors

I read somewhere that fitting the Seat door modules will add the FOB closing feature. I have made my own module for these features but would love to have them OEM.

From memory I thought the tilt function was controlled by the knob for adjusting the mirrors. So if the knob was central neither mirrors would tilt down making normal reversing, normal!

Aren't the Seat module the newer style? I know for sure the B7 modules are part of the window regulator motor, although can be separated.
