Guys, I have noticed that as soon as I unplug my Dashcam. I get a better signal than I do with it plugged in.

I was parked up last night and I had no signal so unlugged my dashcam and it came on striaght away.

I have my dashcam to the left of my rear mirror with the power cable routed round to the left and down the door to the power socket in the centre dash.

I am wonder if the antenna is near there somewhere ?

Use a different usb adapter as they interfere, Anker are good, common issue.

DAB ariels are in the rear of our vehicles. Normally people only suffer reception issues with dual channel front and rear systems, am guessing yours is a single channel. Who makes your camera?

I have a Yi Dashcam but I am using cheap ebay twin usb adapter. Just ordered a Anker one for about £8 so hopefully will be better

The issue is common amongst many cars not just audis, when using a usb adapter to 12v socket, they don't have the needed very cheap needed added circuitry to stop the interference.

Your best solution is to just buy a reputable USB adapter from eg Anker, this resolves the issue generally as most cheap adapters skimp on the suppressor circuitry to keep costs down.

Google dab USB adapter interference & you'll find out all the info you require plus maybe adapters that have the inbuilt circuitry to stop this issue.

Whats the best way to stop the rear camera from interfering with the DAB signal? My hardwired Thinkware F770 is causing DAB dropouts.

OP - sorry to hijack!

Well this is strange as I myself install 3 to 4 of these a week and have only had an issue once with the rear affecting reception. I would need to know how the unit has been hardwired to the vehicle and also the route taken for the rear camera connection.

Edit: issue mentioned was due to a faulty rear camera.

I used the 12v socket fuse for the switched live and I think I used the central locking for the permanent live. The mains cable runs from the fusebox , up the A pillar and down to the camera at the front using the wire cover for rear view mirror.

The wire for the back camera runs from the front camera, back up through the rear view mirror cable cover, across to the drivers side A pillar, across the headlining (past the B and C pillars) and through the boot lid grommet/tube thing to the camera which is mounted at the top of the back window in the middle.

I did a rear view camera retrofit using the earth point in the middle of the boot lid but the DAB reception was fine after fitting that and dashcam was fitted around 2-3 months after retrofitting the rear view camera.

Nothing is plugged into any of the 12v sockets. I did previously have issues with DAB when I had a USB socket plugged in...Audi decided to change my MIB2 unit because of this!

All seems pretty standard to be honest. I would try running a cable direct from the front cam to the rear cam and see what happens. This would be cheaper than sourcing a replacement rear cam. Could also try Ferrite Core's at the beginning and end of all related cables:

Best to Google that specific adapter for any interference reports, anker support is generally good, so you could ask them directly.

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding but isn't the rear cam already directly connected to the front cam? If it is a faulty cam i should still be under warranty. I'll try the ferrite cores too

I mean run the cable outside of any trim, direct for testing as opposed to re-installing / routing a new one.

How do I install this to the fuse box ?
Comes with fuse taps which allow you to make a simple connection to the fusebox. Once you have this visit this thread again so we can guide you through which fuse positions to use. One thing to check before you purchase, I noticed your camera has a USB connection for power but I could not see which type. The nextbaxe kit is mini USB. If your camera does not have this connection you would need to buy a convertor.

Mine has a Mini USB so all good, incidentally I swapped out the 12v adapter with the one that came with the camera and my DAB hasnt cut out once. I think I will invest in this fuse kit tho, would like to free up the 12v socket to charge phones as my mmi usb adapter is quite strong enough to quickly charge phones. thanks for all the info guys.
