So after having a horrible experience with a 2015 A4 Black edition that was bought from Evan Halshaw I moved away from Audi to VW. Bought a cheap Golf while I was moving house & today me and my partner have just put a deposit down on 2018 A3 Sportback S line s-tronic 2.0 150 with 8000 miles.

We got a cracking PCP Deal that included 2 free services with a low deposit so now im mega excited to collect it.

Just wondering from you guys experience is there anything I should look out for? Im guessing with 8000 miles its barely ran in. Not 100% which extras are included, but I know it has dynamic lighting with the fancy indicators, sports suspension and a few others.

Also is there any aftermarket upgrades I should consider?

Its Nice to be back.

Only thing i can add is that i hope you have a low future value at the end of the PCP and that it takes into consideration that a new model is coming out very soon. If its a 4yr deal then at hand back date, your A3 could be close to even a facelift new A3 as most models are 4yrs and then facelifted.

Honestly, I don’t really know how PCP works. The deal I got was £200 a month with a £4000 deposit which is what my part ex is worth. My understanding was to keep the car for the duration of its term then hand back. By then I’ll have a good amount saved up to put back down on another pcp.

I don't really know if that is good or not, to be honest. You will have a GFV which is the future payment should you want to buy the car. If you don't want to then you can give it back and start again. How long is the PCP for? Times your 200pounds monthly payment by the duration of the contract and then add 4k. If its 4yrs then the PCP is 9,600 plus the 4k deposit so thats 13,600.

Personally, i wouldn't modify the car too much, especially engine, gearbox, mapping etc. It's not your car and won't be as you seem set on giving the car back. Audi can check for mods easily and demand you pay the whole car cost upfront. Also, you could invalidate your warranty. Others have other opinions and modify their cars. They forget they are renting a car long term....Each to their own...

In all honesty I’m not sure if it’s a 3 or 4 year term, the car is retailing at just under £20,000 so I’m guessing it’s a 4 year term. No paperwork has been signed on the PCP yet as the car has literally just arrived into prep this morning so the sales guy rang me and I stuck a holding deposit on it.

Congratulations on the new car!

Do you mind me asking what dealership group you used? My brothers looking at A3’s at the moment on PCP and hasn’t been offered any free services as part of the ‘deal’ but I know Audi usually do promotions involving free services on used approved cars.

Cool, welcome back. I’ve got a 68 plate A3 sline Sportback, mines a 35 TFSI and is manual tho.

It’s a lovely car to drive and build quality is fantastic, certainly the best interior and best looking car I’ve ever had.

It was Tyneside Audi which is part of the lookers group, If you take out finance through Audi finance then you get the free services. Hope that helps, as far as I know lookers have 13 Audi main dealerships throughout the UK.

That’s good to hear, I’m in the Midlands so he had a chat with the JCT600 group but I’m up in Newcastle a fair bit for the football so might get him to have a look there as well

@Maco welcome back. Look forward to the pics of the new car, Enjoy

I think you need to read up on whether or not this IS a good deal. You need to know the term. You also need to know what the interest rate is.

Do not just sign anything because you want the car.

10.8% which is slightly high, but with the 2 free services it evens itself out. If I was to HP the car total payable would be £24,000. Total payable through PCP if I was to pay the optional final payment would be £23,600.

What's the optional final payment?

Interest rate is very high, but that's Audi for you.

Yep just about to say check the interest rate.

Also make sure that you have a good look at the car if it's from Lookers Tyneside. I rejected a 3 month old 19 reg S3 a few months back. I got it home, started to detail it (as they hadn't even bothered to prepare it properly for sale) and just kept finding deep scratches in several areas. I took it to a body shop and the respray it needed was on its way to £2000. The used car manager said 'what do you expect, it's a demonstrator and you can't reject it'. They hadn't told me it was a demo, they said it was a manager's car that was being sold. He was a right ***** thing. I never got the log book either and when I queried it, they hadn't even filled it I because they didn't have it. The Dvla wanted me to write to them with how long I owned it etc and lookers told me not to as they didn't want me showing up as an owner on the v5. I had to get in touch with Audi Uk and they were fabulous. Told lookers to collect the car from me and give full refund (i paid cash). Just be wary because their customer service is zero if it goes wrong and that was a 3 month old car with under 2000 miles on. During one conversation with the General manager, he said very flippantly that most of the cars outside of his window had had paint. Perhaps if they had bothered to repair it before I got it, I wouldn't have noticed.

I’ll be definitely giving the car a good once over, made that mistake when buying my previous A4. The prep work was terrible. I’ve only placed a £200 holding deposit on the car, supposedly I’m looking at 7-10 days for it to come back from prep and be ready for me to view. 7-10 days seems like a hell of a long time, so either it’s getting a good once over or it’s rough as hell and needs a lot of work.

On another note, spoke to the sales guy again today. £4000 deposit £200 a month for 4 year, 10.9% apr. 2 Free services included due to taking it out with Audi finance. Optional final payment £10,000

It took them quite a while to sort the S3 out and put it back for sale. It will have cost them as well as it went back up for sale £2,000 more than advertised when I bought it.
Hope they sort you out with a good one

Head over to drivethedeal and you will find a brand new A3 for similar money as there are huge discounts on the A3/S3 with the new ones arriving next year. Then give Aidan at Audi York a ring to match the deal on drivethedeal to avoid paying them a brokers fee if you decide to pull out.
That interest rate of 10.9% is too high IMO and the deposit is large considering its a depreciating asset. I have just ordered a brand new S3 black edition which is£38k+ OTR for £400 per month zero deposit. Your car is essentially £283 per month with no deposit. I think you can find a better deal

The deposit is coming from my part ex & £4000 is a pretty good deal considering I only paid that for it from an auction a few month back. It’s only got over 100k on it and my partner has had a rest end bump. It’s got some terrible paint work on a rear quarter as well so personally I don’t think I could get £4000 for it in a private sale.

Best brand new lease deal I can find is £2500 deposit with £282 a month payment. Total cost is over £16,000. Cost for my deal is only £13,600. The £200 a month was pretty much a deal breaker as well, anything over unless your taking £5/10 then it was a no deal.

Forgot to add the interest rate isn’t 10.9%, it should of been but they reduced my payments from £235 to £200. I’m not clever enough to work out what that reduces the apr too but I think it’s roughly 7%

Don't be blinded by the numbers, they could say we will reduce your monthly payments from £200 to £150 over the same term, then just change you final payment for (example) from £10,000 to £12,400...they will never give you it on both ends.

What was the start/screen price of the car?

Yes, but you could go with reduced payments if you are happy to hand it back at the end of the term.

Car will 100% be getting handed back at the end, so reduced payments with a higher balloon suits me. The cash price was £19,888.

If it suits you a would go for it. £200 a month for a near new A3 is a cracking deal i think. Everyone will have different opinions on Pcp & Hp, someone will always say they could get a better deal.

if the deals is right for you then its the right deal to go for. I got my A3 saloon from tyneside audi over 2years ago and if i have ever had any issues not that i have had many they have been helpful in sorting them.

enjoy your new car

With a £4000 down payment to is not really £200 per month.

Don’t really see it as a £4000 down payment, I see it more of getting rid of a battered & bruised Vw golf with over 100,000 miles on the clock. By the time the term is up i will of easily saved more than what the Golf would of been worth.

Like Henda said, the deal might not suit everyone but it suits me. I could of paid £250/260 a month and got something newer, but with the £200 a month it allows me to pay my mortgage etc & still save £1000 a month. So the deal suits me perfect.

As long as you’re happy with the deal that’s all that matters.

The thing with a forum is that some will always think they know best, drop your banger off, collect the A3, pay your £200 a month and enjoy the car.
