Hi all, I'm looking at getting myself an s3. Been looking around at remapping options and it seems the 2012-2015 296bhp models remap with slightly better results than the 2016 305bhp model onwards. Apart from having a newer car what are the main benefits, differences between a 2015 and 2016 model?
Thanks

The 2016 model has the facelift. Don’t take my word for it but I think from September 2016 they had the new front end, also it’s when Audi started fitting usb etc so it would have CarPlay & a few other features. For me technology is a big thing, so If you could push towards a facelift model then do it.

Thanks Maco, I was actually looking at 2017 up until I spotted the fact that the earlier ones seem to remap for more power. I will probably go for a newer one as I'm no racing driver and a few bhp higher or lower won't make a lot of difference. I was just wondering why the older model makes more power after a remap though.

The facelift also got the 7 speed s tronic box if you are buying auto.

Well I'll definitely be going auto, I thought the earlier version was 7 speed auto also. Live and learn it's 6. Definitely be a facelift model then I think.

From everything I’ve seen, apple to apple, stage 1 FL is much faster than PFL, not sure where you heard PFL gets better result... Go for FL, VC, Carplay, 7 spd alone are worth it.

Purely from an aesthetics point of view the the FL S3 is a backwards step and the start of Audi's penny pinching. PFL cars have S3 logo's, while the FL cars are all branded `S`. A minor point, granted.

If you were buying new, you had to buy packs rather than specific items you wanted. But from a second hand point of view, you'll either get a car with lots of kit, or a car with not much at all. Just depends if the original buyer wanted to pay for 4 items, just to get the 2 they wanted.

For me though, a must on an S3 is getting a car with the Super Sport seats. Slightly more supportive, but a whole lot better looking than the standard seats. Extended mono, pur lifts the cabin even more.

I can't see how considering its the same engine / turbo. But yeah you wont notice a few bhp difference at all, but you will notice a huge hike in grunt after the remap :)

I think the older cars make an extra 10 hp from a re map because they are 10 bhp down on the newer cars to start with, as far as I can tell if you remap both a fl and a pfl they will both make the same power.
