Winter wheels OE or pattern 18" or 19"

Check the availability of the winter tyres your after in the size of wheel ! You may find a significant difference in price and brands with a smaller wheel. I have 17s for my winter tyres on the e-tron . Used to have a set of 16s for the old SAAB . A smaller and narrower tire with a higher profile also has better traction in deep snow and slush and is much less likely to aquaplane on the ice and in the rain. Just make sure they will fit over the brakes .

If you are going to the expense of winter tyres I suggest getting wheels which are suited too.

I actually have a set of 17s with Michelin Cross Climate Tyres as I don't believe the UK winter where I live (Bedfordshire) necessitates proper winter tyres. Saying that when I did get proper water tyres for the old SAAB I would get Nokian W4 I believe.

Go with 18 " rims .....much better availability choices for winter tyres than 19" and 18" are also less expensive and yes narrower is better in snow, just take a look at what winter rally cars are shod with...very narrow tyres, and also narrower tyres are better for wet, rainy roads, less prone to aquaplaning.
