Hi all

hope this is the correct place to ask. I’ve been looking and can’t find anything specific to my car
It’s a 2002 1:9 TDI Quattro 1:30 engine. Hope that’s specific enough sorry if not lol

I’m looking at getting a re map. Have cleaned the EGR. Clutch is good. Car seems spot on but I’ve been told a re map on these engines can cause issues. As in driving it certain ways?

it’s a bit of a minefield tbh so much to read and take in my heads frazzled.
Any advice from those with the same would be greatly appreciated

Your AVF will happily remap to 180bhp but it's all about the torque..

How smoothly it comes in and how much .

300 ftlb is about the limit for longevity on a used clutch with most 165 bhp maps around 288 ftlb .

However there are a few 175 bhp 265+ftlb maps about that won't stress the clutch at all.

Excellent having a 2002 as you can simply disable the egr too .

The 5 speed AWX is where torque is even more crucial because of its smaller 228mm clutch Vs 240mm 6 SPEED in the AVF .

Pull the vac line to the egr metal actuator hat , plug the vac line with a small bolt and hey presto you have egr disable and your B6 now only breathes clean cold filtered air .

If you have a 1.9 you can map it without worrying.
And like it was said. Being a 2002 you can simply remove egr.
I removed it on mine when I had the A4.
Just mine was the 5 speed awx.

Remapped most of my many VAG cars in the past, including my A4 PD130 & Revo Technik was my favourite. As long as your Clutch is good you shouldn't have any problems.

So it's means that I can get from my AVF 6 speed 180hp with only remap? Original turbo and injectors. (my egr is deleted long time ago )

Can this be done on a 2004 AVF too?

2004 AVF yes but it will throw a eml as after 2003 the egr vac signal is monitored by the ecu .

Only trouble with egr delete kits is you loose the anti shudder valve, most report a smooth shutdown but there is a risk of not being able to stop diesel run away .

I have the same model as you, mine had a stage 1 remap by superchips @ 110K , the car now sits at 230K and im still running the same original clutch & DMF - post remap performance and drive ability are like night and day - I thoroughly recommend Superchips , my next car will also be going to them.

Thank you! I know a bloke who owns a company who remaps so I’ll go there but thank you! Just wanted actual peoples advice who’ve owned this one and had it done or not if they felt they shouldn’t lol

What company ?
It’s a local one to where I live. He’s re mapped my old A4 and the Skoda VRS so I trust him lol having it done tomorrow. Tbh he would of said if it shouldn’t be done. But just wanted to check with people who’ve got these cars and had it done

Good evening , software remap Revo stage 1 goes up untill 180 BHp, without any changes. Tested and sounds amazing. Avf engine-6 speeds gearbox.

Does this throw any warning lights on the dash? do you find the car runs better?

What year and plate is yours ?

Yes , low rpm turbo spool improves as some exhaust gasses are no longer being diverted through the egr .

Due to improved efficiency , a few mpg better too .

Hi, Its a 2001 AWX engine code. I see there are kits with blanking plates available to remove the pipe that goes from the bottom of the EGR to the turbo - is it necessary or is just removing and plugging the pipe that comes off the top of the EGR going to effectively produce the same result?

Yes .

You can always put a 1.5mm thick slip in blank in the bottom of the pipe .

I remapped my 1.9 awx 5 speed 130, to 175bhp using an MPPS device and a map from the blacksmoke website. It took two mins, and cost me £45.
70k miles later its still perfect. Why spend £200+ on a fancy custom map? Its only a 1.9 diesel.
