What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

All fitted , lovely stuff indeedy.., just need some better interior ambient down lights etc .

Nice one Rob, they look slick -I’ve been tempted with the RS4 carbon interior trim but it’s a work vehicle so it really doesn’t merit it! I’ll put my monies to the go faster bits haha

You’re running a high flow cat right? I’m interested in the 034 one, any advice? I’ve also heard they could fail you an MOT have you had any issues?

Cheers,

O34 sports cat is very good but in recent months have increased in cost a lot, some say they are not worth the cost , i'd disagree but personal choice again.
They work very well with the oem exhaust to start with and even better with a tapered larger bore downpipe, wether you get a great deal more improvement with full system I couldn't comment as I've never tried it.
I have the 034 with a tapered larger bore down pipe fitted to the remaining oem system with quad 90mm tips , works brilliantly with a nice sound but not exccesive.
has passed MOT's fine.

Is worth doing , most certainly .
Worth the cost, yes.
overall effectiveness, very good indeedy.

I agree, I have 034 motorsport cat fitted to a Milltek exhaust and works well.
Nice sound but not boy racer, you notice it more under acceleration, nice but not deafening.

Thanks for the input guys! I had noticed they’ve jumped up in cost recently - in fact pretty much everything on awesomegti has jumped up! And ECS has stopped selling some products to outside of the US (I wonder if they’ve done a deal with awesome gti??? Hmm...)

It’s annoying as I have a little shopping list that I want to get for the old girl namely; high flow cat, adjustable rear antiroll bar links and a front mount inter cooler - but then you’d probably want to upgrade injectors and fuel pump and the list continues etc.

I’m loving how she drives at the moment, the suspension/ARB/stage 1 modifications has transformed her into such a sleeper. But I’ve poked the modification bear... and now he’s hungry for more! Haha.

Money no object I’d be asking for a TTRS/RS3 five pot lump mated to the Torsen setup with that engine the right way around it would be an updated quattro! Oh baby - keep dreaming Bob, keep dreaming.

Do 1.9tdi engines have this issue?

How did you go about spraying headlights??

Just took them out took the clips off from around the edges got a box big enough to fit 1 light in at a time put a hole in one end to put my heat gun in there and just used a heat gun for a few mins and it softens the glue up so you can separate the lens from the unit. It’s really easy tbh

Gave the old bus a quick clean after the last few weeks of rubbish weather, also gave the recaro's another session with some moisturiser to keep them nice.
Carbon trim looks spanking now its fitted, a few more bits to fit yet but not enough time today.
A few plain old pics, but always good to share..:icon thumright:

Very nice Rob, that's a beautiful looking interior, you've got a spot on motor

Thanks Shaun, it's a good old bus and does what I ask of it, well most of the time..lol
It's getting on a bit but I wouldn't part with it, a bit like myself.
Still a fair bit to do on it though, including replacing the s-line door sill scuff plates....they really grate on me for some reason.

Well there's nothing about your car I don't like, and it's clear you put alot of love and time into it. If I was in the position I'd do exactly the same.

For now I'm just trying to get this double din conversion equipment together. Ordered the Headunit which to be honest isn't a great one but will still look better than oem single din. Got the double din climate control module arriving this coming week, just have to get the money for the wiring kits, and the double din cradle. Getting there slowly lol..

I had an email from Awesome GTI a couple of weeks ago... they are now the ‘exclusive’ dealer for ECS within the UK, this might explain why they aren’t shipping directly to England now.
With regard to the 034 HFC it is a great piece of kit, I’ve had no issues with the MOT, just make sure it’s warm when you go in! Can’t believe how much they’ve gone up in price though, crazy money!

I still haven't progressed with these darn led reverse lamps, so many to choose from , I think this would be better than the oem ones aswell.

The new carbon trim is looking good Rob. Every time I see an interior shot of your bus I find myself wanting a flat bottom steering wheel... and thinking I should hurry up and fit my Newsouth gauge too!

You just need to find a free 60 mins then Rob...:icon thumright:

60 minutes? I’m lucky to get 60 seconds to myself at the moment what with work and family commitments.
I don’t think I’ve driven it more than 20 miles in the last few weeks!

New suspension on, car riding a bit higher as a result. Mechanic found two oddly paired springs in the back, so glad they're out.

Decided to address a problem , well more of an annoyance really, my drivers door handle insert.
A few wear patches had appeared on it around the pull section and drivers window switch, nothing major but just needed sorting out.
Seemed like a good time to experiment so did exactly that, turned out fairly well really.
Sanded down the surface , went a bit mad really and ended up with a massive area....lol.
Anyway all done, just need to refit when fully dry, as close to oem part colour and finish as possible .

I take it you used sandpaper, what paint did you use did you prime and clear coat??

I used a wet and dry block , 1 thin primer coat and then 2 coats of plastikote matt black , came out better than expected to be honest.
Used the same paint on some other bits last year and it has stood up to the wear very well and still looks like new.

Will be doing this myself then. I'm actually thinking about doing the exterior silver trims, look terrible.

Great job, I would do it but im positive the beige is going to be hard to find.

Where did you get the paint from Rob? I did my glove box cooler door and finished it with a perfectly matching primer, being hidden away i don't get any issues with wear and tear.

Cant be sure Alex as its been in the garage for a while, well it was a spare tin I had over from the other bits I sprayed.
May have been "The Range " near me.
Its very good paint , I've used it on a few bits and stands up well to continued use and wear.

New drive belt and pulley
New offside rear wheel bearing

Now to take her up the road at 70 and see if the abs/esp come on

Nothing too exciting happening with mine at the moment. Got to make the final payment for my van at the end of December so trying to be conservative with money ha. I have de-chromed the headlights tho, had to split them to get to the projectors so took the opportunity while I had them apart. 7EDB1357 8133 427F 8E89 AF6D7B135F1C1E988D9D 5EFA 4684 9AF7 0E5F736D2C6FD1A3F4DC 86DB 4D02 8B79 7520446E5AE3DB2EC9E6 52B0 49BB 817D 04F1A342D630

The old bus is sure looking good Rob, is that an RS4 bumper you bought ?
yes and no...its a very good rs4 replica for the A4 body, bought in the states, it had very good reviews etc on build quality and fitting , uses oem fittings inc foglamp covers and grille so worth a go.
only snag is that the splitter was extra but looks nice so had to have one too.

New fuel filter while watching the rugby in the pub opposite and of course a breakfast.

Does this require the relay to be added and does the interior switch still work?

I created a separate Control Unit to control them (Arduino), but once the car is on they are controlled by the switch.
