So guys today I found out my A3 what I've owned for almost a fortnight is a measly 140bhp, after previously giving it Barry big balls in the work car park saying it's a 170.

In my defense I am new to Audi and knew nothing about the marquee.

The source of my over inflated power figures was a strange sticker inside the door shut which turns out is full of lies! (I'll leave the picture at the bottom.

I got my insurance documents today which state 140 and so began the investigation which led to the shocking truth.

The way I see it I have 2 options, set the car on fire, or quickly get it re mapped and then deny all knowledge of said map.

Please someone tell me there is an advantage the 140 has over the 170.

Regards

The registration number I'm guessing, I've checked the engine code and it is indeed a 140 or a 103 kw to be precise.

Ha Ha probably, I've checked the number with Audi it is what it is.

Someone at work said it might have been mapped already hence the aftermarket sticker.

What's the engine code?

Its a series of numbers and letters that identify the type of engine you have........ come on Nige this is basic stuff.... tut.

To throw a spanner in the works here, I had a similar issue many years ago but it turned out that the car was registered incorrectly.
I bought a Peugeot 307 HDI (110) and my insurance quote came back as a 90bhp version. Made my insurance cheaper.
To clarify, it was definitely a 110bhp version, it had all the corrects stickers/badges/spec as well as achieving that figure on a rolling road prior to a remap I had done.

Hence me asking for the reg. I'll input the chassis number into my computer at work and ALL will become clear
