Hi, a couple of questions. I have a late 2016 B9 s4 avant. When scrolling through drive modes is there normally much difference between eco and dynamic? Trying to find a way not to wake the entire street when I leave for work.....

also I’m finding the steering a little vague. Will check the tyre pressures, it has a brand new set of hankook ventus s1 evo.

The Audi app isn’t easy... mine talks about enable additional vehicle info and needing the dealer to do it.... what do they need to do?

plus my Audi connect runs out at the end of the year, is it easy/affordable to subscribe.

being a bit heavy with the right foot 20mpg is a bit scary.....

thanks

Welcome !
As far as I know there is no way to keep the exhaust quiet on start up - it’s noisy ( if you can call it that ) in any of the modes during startup ! The noise doesn’t last for long - not long enough in my book !

steering vague or at least not much feeling - kinda an Audi trait I think .... but definitely improved by having the correct pressures - I run 39 all round on my s4 avant. I’d still like to tackle understeer and some wallowing in mine ( guess I’m used to stiffer )

I gave up on the Audi app after week one - I don’t have advance key or sos module so it does very little as far as I can see- correct me if I’m wrong ?

20mpg - depends where you drive ... I get 18 around town but my long term (last 7000 miles) anyway shows 33mpg but often I can see 39+ on a nice long run....

On the connect....just email Audi uk with your vin and they'll extend for free. Apparently they still have no charging procedure in place so do it for nothing. Think they made a mistake when I asked them to extend mine as well, they did it for 2 instead of 1 year!
The whole process is automatic in the car when they action the email. Nothing to do in the car

Thanks for the Audi tip Greg pot I have emailed them already.

Spearo, that mpg is reassuring. I’m tempted with a drive to the south of France for half term and at 20mpg, I’d be stopping to refuel too much to enjoy the Roads....

ad a gti clubsport before so the steering feeling vague isn’t overly surprising. I keep forgetting I’m driving an estate now.

will check the tyre pressures tomorrow

I wanted a black edition car but couldn’t quite reach for the extra money. Has anyone any experience of wrapping or spraying the parts to look like a black edition car?

I’ve got a 2017 S4 Avant!
Exhaust on cold start is noisy, my neighbours have commented as I live in a quiet road and regularly leave for work around 5 ish.

I’m have dynamic steering, but generally find Audi steering to be a tad vague.

Tte Audi app doesn’t really offer much for our cars, only really got functionality after model year 18 cars so would worry too much bout getting that working.

if you are desperate for black edition trim I have a set of OEM black mirror caps for sale as I changed mine to alloy.

I don’t think vague steering is estate related - my last car was an estate and the steering was sharp and positive, guess it’s just the engineering and the suspension geometry that make it - Less driver focussed ( I don’t think it’s actually vague, just less feel perhaps)
It definitely helps to have the optional sports differential fitted - kinda drives you out of corners and makes the car feel less estate like - although of course it’s nothing to do with the steering

EPA steering has a reputation for being vague, only Ford and Jaguar seem to be able to get it right...

Been for a blast Today and one thing I seem to be missing is the cracks, bangs and pops of the exhaust on full revs, downshifts etc.....

are they a usual soundtrack on the s4?
Thanks

If only ! No sadly there aren’t nearly enough- maybe with an exhaust and a good tune .... although tuners seem unable to add many at the moment ! Sorry....

Not an S4 but I’ve recently had my trims wrapped on my S5 and they look spot on. One thing I would recommend though is to buy a genuine black grille and not have it wrapped. I wouldn’t recommend spraying.

was that all trims? Windows, roof bars, front vents, wing mirrors etc?

Yep (although the S5 has no roof bars),also rear diffuser and door handles. Wing mirrors I bought carbon fibre ones.

I paid £480+Vat for all of the wrapping, £300 for the wing mirrors (usually £600 from Audi and fitted them myself), and then £455 for the grill + parking sensor supports (£737 from Audi usually and £105+VAT to fit)

Downshifting in dynamic at around 2,200 rpm will give you a really good crackle. Or letting off the accelerator at around 3,000, you do need to be in manual mode though or the car will just shift up.
