Power steering issue

Noticed that my steering is much firmer then normal. Checked fluid which is full.
No idea why this has occurred.
I’ve not hit any pot holes etc.

what else could be the issue?
 
Khufu, I also believed the rack to be electric, I wasn't aware 8V went back to old school.

Are you sure you're not checking the brake fluid reservoir.

yes, it is electric as was the A3 8P. The rack is assisted by an electric motor, that's why it can be controlled via CAN signals for the park assist and how the characteristics are altered for the drive select modes.

As to why its heavy i dont know. If there was a fault in the system then there would be a warning light and if tyres were flat then the tpms would flag up too.
