Hi,

Car: PFL Audi S3 8V Sportback running VWR intake, Forge hose and EMP res delete.

Looking to find out if anyone knows if Revo will ever be doing a overrun pops and bangs on a stage 1 map without getting a decat like Unicorn offer at the moment?

I just want to go stage 1 but don't really want to travel all the way to Manchester for unicorn as im in London so was hoping perhaps Revo or MRC might do something like this some time soon.

Any thoughts appreciated.

thanks

Hiya,

From what I understand Unicorn create the pops/bang from some sort of thermal wizardry which prevents the cat from being damaged. Whereas Revo and MRC create the pops/bangs via a different route (possibly ignition timing/fueling) which unless you have decat will have a detrimental effect on your cat.

I don’t know why the others can’t use this thermal technology as well. Hope this helps.

(I am not a tuner by any means just someone who has been on this Forum for a good while and picked up little bits here and there. Take what I’ve said with a pinch of salt it may be complete rubbish!)

It’ll be a one off trip so tbh’ I’d probably make the journey to Unicorn :)

I believe APR squirt a bit of fuel on overrun I've noticed my tail pipes are really black now. Usually light grey. Needs a sports cat or decat for APR crackle map stage 2.

I have also a PFL S3 with the same mods as yours but with a turbo technics intake pipe.

I had a stage 1 and TCU mapped by MRC a few months back with the pop and crackle added, very happy with the extra power and still loving the pop and crackle! (I'm such a kid!!) it's now pushing out 381hp and 407Ib-ft toque. It feels like a completely different car!

Thanks for all replies guys.

Unicorn was on top of my list but just because of the travel i was looking for a reputable alternative. I see now why some are stage 2 only i guess if one uses thermal and the other spits more fuel.

@wannis i actually have turbo technics hose as well i mistakenly put Forge. Can you tell me what MRC did for you and was it with a decat installed? if its same as mine then this sounds like what i am after. any videos would be appreciated if you got some

I bought the car with the res delete already done.

MRC supplied and fitted the racingline r600 intake and turbo technics intake pipe along with a stage 1 map with pop and crackles added + TCU map.

No decat, running standard cat, I have heard the pop and crackles can destroy the standard cat in the long run but I have not seen any proof of this, so I'm going to take my chances!

Sorry no videos but I see if I get a chance over the weekend and I post it up.

Nice figures. Mine (MRC map) has more power (390) but less torque (391). My exhaust is stock but otherwise have more or less the same intake but with an uprated intercooler, which probably explains the lower torque (maybe a bit less boost because of stock exhaust) but higher power (intercooler, but also bare in mind it was 25C summers day when I had it done).

But yes, it is a completely different car. That feeling as the huge shunt of torque kicks in around 3krpm is rather addictive.

@wannis nice i think i will have to give MRC a shout as their site is not showing much detail.

Videos would be awesome if you can i am sure lots of us would like to hear it

So have spoken to MRC and they have confirmed that they can do OEM Crackle on my PFL S38V so will be getting stage 1 and gearbox tune hopefully end of the month. I will add some videos for all :) @wannis any chance of a vid of yours would still be awesome to see what i am in for
