hi all

after a short spell away from Audi im back thank god, take delivery of my new A3 40 TDI Quattro s-tronic black edition on friday, has any one used a DTUK tuning box on one as the gains seem a little high, 240 BHP and 500 nm

what are peoples thoughts and experiences

thanks

Think I have a similar engine to you. 2.0tdi with 190bhp? Iv been looking at the remap and it can get to 240bhp whichIi think is pretty good. Can't remember which company people recommended but hopefully, someone will come along and help out. Not gonna do it myself just yet due to warranty issues it might cause...

This is what i got via a quote for my Q2.

High figures for a box but then that's marketing for you .

Stage 1 remap realistically 220 bhp and 450 Nm .

Higher with custom .

yeah with it being brand new i would prefer a tuning box just in case just the box and the gearbox flash works out quite expensive

I swear there were threads about this stating that Audi can see any change made? that the ECU has a memory that will store anything other than the set limiters and anything over will be stored and flagged when Audi conduct a service or something goes wrong and they plug it in? What with Audi not being the most reliable, for examples: clutches are quite the topic especially after a remap, i don't think ill do mine until after warranty expiry.

just had a 2018 tiguan 150 tdi DSg, had constant issues with this, had the tuning box fitted and they have never said anything, the box was noticable just not sure it was worth the £450

If you have a T/Box and remove it before it goes in imho Audi may see some weird readings but if you simply deny it there is no way they can prove anything. Different vs a map which they will see and TD1 flag the car.

Seen no actual proof of this and I haven't experienced it with both my Audi's. Other owners who have had tuning boxes fitted haven't had an issue. I guess if they spot something unusual they might go sniffing in deeper but then there would need to something obvious as terminator x states...

Wasn’t there a chap on here who bought a car via Audi Approved used and then one day, whilst servicing it or something, Audi found that it had been chipped or remapped? Audi didn’t believe him when he said it wasn’t him etc etc but they refused warranty work on it? Defo a few clutch threads of owners that have remapped their Audi’s and the extra torque can’t be handled by the standard clutch.

TB1 is a flag for tuning box .

Normal servicing isn't an issue the technician may not even get to see the information but be sure the Motherland does .

Come a warranty claim for engine or gearbox..

Yep. Just checked it to see if I was talking rubbish but for once I don’t think I am! A google search brings up loads of forum posts, from this forum and others, relating to invalidated warranties etc... safe until a problem arises!

Surely only if you leave the box in place? No way can they TB1 flag a car with no box in place and an owner simply denying it.

TB1 actual description is Suspected tuning with tuning box .

So it shows it's picked up without it physically being there and taken off .

Confirmed here .

Trims and adaptations will be off normal with downstream effects and that’s assuming they don’t clock the dirt mark shadows of something being plugged in and then removed.

Dealers and service techs will only be bothered about tuning boxes if the dealership had to stump up for a big warranty claim. Audi (the manufacturer) aren't stupid and expect them to question and carry out forensic investigations if the result of using a tuning box has over-stressed something leading to the failure and you want them to pay a £6k repair bill.
If you fit the box, just realise that Audi may invalidate your warranty, not pay the dealer to repair your car and leave you with a big bill or a broken car.
And if you've fitted a box to a car that you don't even own in the first place...

The owner must have left something physically major signs behind to make them suspicious in the first place. Hundreds have these boxes fitted without it raising this kind of reaction. Vastly outnumber the one occurrence...

Hi

Im considering getting the mrs pfl a3 184tdi sline stronic quattto mapped

Saw posts from other sites saying if its dsg it has to be limited to around 430nm to protect the dsg box but others say if you map the box it will handle the 500nm

Also darkside state on their website a stage 1 will only see 205-215 real figures

This is why I haven't mapped mine until i can verify if the dsg will need mapping or the torque held back on a remap

I'm sure there's more , just the first example I came across .

It's an honest account , within warranty turbo goosed , tuning box removed prior dealer , dealer ODIS flags TB1 .

Nothing I doubt made them suspicious just dealer protocol .

If anyone with a 2.0 184ps is looking to tune their car then this is worth reading. It also contains a rolling road graphs supplied to us by a REVO dealer who had a good GTD running our crd3+ on their dyno.. no doubt some on here will still say the results are fudged ...

And at present we’re offering £50 discount to members on the tuning box with app control, please DM me for the discount code

As for TB1 I can’t say I’ve ever actually seen any real proof anywhere, just lots of “claims” and “my mate”..

TB1 is “suspected use, so in reality there’s no concrete proof ..

Is there any pull Back from the s tonic box, with torque limiters etc, I have the latest Bluetooth one from my 2018 Tiguan 2.0tdi 150 dsg and sometimes felt the gearbox didn’t like the extra power and that’s why I felt sometimes I wasn’t getting the full suggested BHP improvement

any discount on upgrading my current box to a new one for my new A3 40 tdi 184 Quattro stronic

thanks

This is my concern

I think the way around it is a dsg map and a stage 1 map from a tuner

Been mooching the darkside website....pricey but them lads know their onions

I spoke to Luke at DTUK yesterday and my box is being sent off next week for the new tune ready for when my car has done 1000 miles, I’ve been doing a little bit more research and I’m happy with what I’ve read so it will be going on

So does the new map have a lower torque rating or does it up the rating on the dsg?

Alot ive read suggests it will hesitate as it hits the gearbox torque limiter if its exceeded until it sheds some off so its within the limits set on the ecu for the dsg box

There is a thread il dig out of a mk7 gtd forum which is a good read , one company sets the torque to 430nm on dsg equipped models and 500nm on manual gearbox
