alright peeps, im fitting some led rear lights to my 8p sportback, I’ve got the wiring looms etc , but I’m wondering if I can Code the lights with an obd scanner or does it have to be VCDS? Cheers

I’ve only done the job using VCDS, although I believe you can buy an adapter loom with the coding somehow built-in to avoid the need to use VCDS?
I don’t believe it’s cheap though.

Kufatec makes the loom and also a VCDS programming module that will take care of the updates w/o needing VAG COM cable+software. It's like 30 EUR.
