Hi all. Wonder if you can please help or advice with something....

We picked up a car on Saturday from an independant dealership. Signed all the paperwork etc with some on finance through a third party.
Then yesterday the car dealer phoned, emailed, texted loads!! Saying he needs to unwind the deal as he made a big mistake and charged us £2000 less by accident for the car.....now he wants us to either return the car or sort out the outstanding £2000 by adding it onto our finance agreement...where do we stand with this because he is saying he will be able to repossess the car if we don't sort it......we have the car at home already and transfered the ownership online...

I would take some legal advice. But it looks like they have made the mistake & as it was all signned off i suppose it is there mistake?. They should really of checked all the papers before they were signed by both parties?.

Just tell them you are getting legal advice, as the paperwork has already been signed. It's their mistake tough. I would not be handing the car back or paying extra money.

It depends what the paperwork says that you've signed and what all the figures add up to.
If its £2k short of the purchase price then unfortunately it's still outstanding.
However if they've lost the £2k in the figures then that's their problem!

If they have made a mistake then it's tough luck for them, as already stated if you were supposed to be paying an agreed price and that's in the figures then I'm not sure. But if all the way through the transaction he's been giving you a price then that's the price you were willing to pay and that's final.
After all we can't suddenly change our mind when selling houses or anything else if the market is better the next week haha silly salesman...

I would also advise the finance company they are trying this on with you as technically they own the car but get legal advise first.
Keep a note of all e mails phone calls paperwork etc etc just in case it does end up in court.
I would not be happy if it happened with me .I would tell them where to go .(Politely though ! ! !)
Do you stay far away from the garage ?

Is this a reputable Dealership?
Have you heard of any similar cases from the garage, maybe something they try now and again?
Just being nosey but what was the car deal you got?
