Car is at Audi tomorrow for mot, have a feeling they’re gonna mention the front discs when they do their health check thing.
What discs does everyone use on here? I’ve only had the car a year so not bought any front discs for it yet.
Thanks.

Don’t listen to Audi if they say your brakes are knackered. Even if they have 30% left they’ll say you need to replace them when in reality that’s thousands of miles.

Yeah I bet. I wasn’t really keen on taking it to them because I know what dealerships are like. There is a bit of a lip on the discs though.

They’ll be fine! How many miles have you done or has the car done on those discs?

Not sure. It’s a 2015 and done 28000 miles. Not sure if they’re the original discs or not.

Get them to measure, 31mm is min, they start life at 34mm

Ok, so maybe they are approaching the end of their life!

Yeah it says that on the bell but no-one who works in a garage can back that up. I’ve had 3 x separate garages all tell me it’s 31mm.

Also when new there only 34mm So I really cannot see how a new disc has 1.6mm of life till it needs to be replaced. 3mm of life seems more accurate and is what I’m being told so I was told to leave mine so 1k saved..

I’ve just changed my pads and discs (ferredo DS performance and Alcon/Revo)!
PFL 2016 .. almost 48000 km (30000 Miles)

.. pads light was already on for about 1600 km (1000 Miles) and the discs were 32,2 mm .. minimum thickness is 32,4 mm so there was a big lip on those discs.

50% they just told me on the phone so I'm good for a while then?

Good for a long time. 50% would last me 30,000 miles...I'm gentle on the brakes!
