The MMI on my 2015 car seems to get into various shutdown/standby states with no predictability. When I get in the car (sometimes first thing in the morning, sometimes after an hr or 2 since driving it last) the MMI seems to do a cold/warm/hot start-up at random. The difference seems to be how fast the Bluetooth/SatNav and other functions come up, if the startup logo comes up, if the needle sweep happens (set up by Calista), etc.

Anyone know the logic behind this?

I find it depends how quickly you get into the car after pressing unlock. The MMI appears to starts the boot up sequence as soon as unlock is pressed.

I’ve never managed to figure it out. Sometimes the radio starts playing as soon as you turn on, sometimes ages while it restarts.
As has been said above, it doesn’t seem to relate to how long the car has been switched off.

The instrument needle sweep (as above) is an example - sometimes it happens, sometimes not. In my case this is an adaption from Calista. But for those who have cars with this feature from the factory, for you does it also only work sometimes?

I have a facelift S3 with virtual cockpit and the needle sweep (enabled from factory) is hit and miss on that. Sometimes the gauge shows on the screen but the needle for the gauge doesn't show until the engine has started.

I'm not sure if its related to the charge state of the battery

I have a FL none VC with needle sweep set up from factory and have never noticed it not do sweep at startup.
