SIM card usage

When you add the data only sim, the embedded sim is over ridden and all data for all the services you use will be from your EE sim and not just when people are connected to it.

I’ve added the sim and it’s using zero date when I’m driving around.

I’m just going on what is written in the car’s handbook and personal experience with my car.

I agree it looks like this but if I’ve been given 12 months connect free why should it then switch to my cost just because I’ve added my own sim. I’ll monitor this but so far from to runs to work and not letting my iPhone connect to the cars WiFi I’ve used no data.

The Audi Connect (which you’ve been given 12 months free) is a subscription service for the supply of services from Audi (Google earth, weather, news etc.). These are supplied via a mobile network, the e-sim embedded in the MMI is free to use and is valid until something like year 2115 and the connect services use very little data day to day. When you put in your own sim the MMI then uses that to do the data transfer. The MMI is not intelligent enough to differentiate between different mobile networks to transfer the data (e-sim or external sim).

Are you using the google satellite view on your navigation, setup a wifi hotspot and used a device to access the internet?

Yes am using google earth on satnav and using weather etc but not allowing my iPhone to connect to car as I already have good data on that. I was only going to use the EE sim for the kids iPads.

What services are you using when your driving? As I said in my last post the Audi connect services use very little data day to day. If you’re going on the data used on the MMI then that’s showing the data used by the MMI and if none of the Audi connect services have been used would be zero if using the e-sim or your sim.

In 3 years my MMI is showing I’ve received 5.31GB of data and sent 1.52GB of data, so in the few days you’ve used your Audi connect I doubt it’s used enough data to register on the display.

Not sure if I fully understand this so I’ve now got 12 months connect and I’ve added 3 months of WiFi for £25 which gives me 15gb of data. Seems ok to me. Means I can top up from the mmi. I know it’s not the best deal but it’s easy.

So you have taken my and others advice after saying it’s all bull?? Are you trying to wind us up??
Your saying you using your SIM card and it’s perfect and we know nothing but then going against what you say and using the Audi services??

I would be going for 3’s 24months 24GB prepaid sim at £60. Using this for when the kids are using the hotspot and the ejecting the sim when not using the hotspot.
