just about, right here!
Anyone actually use a snooper or a cheetah type device?
If so, have they saved your bacon?
All comments appreciated.

I thought I would just ask a general consensus on the subject after receiving a speeding notice of doing 56 in a 50.
The lorry in front obviously seen the camera van and slowed down, I overtook him , not seeing the van, and bingo, clocked.
Speed awareness course booked for October.
First offence in over 10 years.
Gutted.
Anywho, coming home from Durham today, I noticed an X5 parked up down a back street, 200m further at one of those LED speed display signs were 2 officers of the law, trigger happy pointing what looked like an old Hi8 video camera at everything that went past.
Obviously the latest in mobile speed cameras trying to coin it in on the unsuspecting motorist.
And this got me thinking...

Too much of this doesn't help.

It's one of those things, with speed awareness these days one cant really risk speeding.
I've had a few over the years on bikes , but nothing for a long time and all within 1/2 mile of home .
I tried road angle , useless frankly.....
I just drive with more care towards speed limits, its the only really safe method.

I totally agree.
I ain't no boy racer by a long way.
In fact I tootle about, more concerned about pot holes damaging my wheels lol.
43 years old, and more often than not have my 9 year old daughter in the car so rarely drive quick, and if I do it's only overtaking and such.
Besides, my car may look fastish, but it's not really lol.
I just find the way the police position there traps and more interesting, the way they deploy them, is becoming more and more sneaky.
The money they glean from tickets is not improving the quality of our roads, so a little bit of protection in the form of knowing they are there sounds appealing.
It's my licence not there's after all.

Never used the speed alert thing but have the POI set up in the car from the A3 thread on here and was done by DJAlix which helps...but obviously not for what speed it is.

I'm in a similar boat, more often than not it's when I overtake a slow vehicle, it doesn't take much to soon be doing more than expected even with a relatively light foot. Speed limiter in the car helps, but then I find it limits the power too much before hitting your speed limiter.

Roads and speed limits change so frequently in towns and cities these devices soon get outdated. Waze so far for me has been pretty accurate with speed limits and cameras on the road.
