Hi,any idea why audi do not use their own bodyshops.I rang my local dealer about a small stone chip I want repairing she told me they do not have a bodyshop on site but use one a few miles away.do all audi dealers go down this route.the dealer in this case is bolton audi.

Yes all dealers have their own body shop they outsource their work to. I don't know of any dealer that would have their own body shop on site for work. My local Audi and many other dealers all use one in Bishops Stortford

The nearest Audi dealer to me that has a bodyshop is about 1-2 hours away so I just use my local VW dealership who has a bodyshop.
Near me (Bradford) they're all owned by the sytner group and they all use huddersfield VW who have a bodyshop onsite.
I dont think many dealerships have an onsite bodyshop tbh as it's not really required for the investment and upkeep it would need to be viable

Glasgow Audi has there own body shop and supposedly the only one in Scotland that can deal with aluminium structure on some of the Audi’s.

Sounds normal to me. It may however be worth asking what pdi service set-up they have. A couple of years back I had a dent on my Skoda. The local bmw dealer had an excellent pdi service set-up and they repaired the damage at a very low price, less than the likes of dent master type repair companies.
