Hi guys,

Bought a VCDS kit recently and wanted to diagnose a misfire my friend has on his Seat Altea.

Is this possible via VCDS, how much information would i be able to gather etc?

Just some guidance would be appreciated as i am new to the VCDS world.

Assuming you've a genuine cable :rockwoot:below is a link to Ross-tech's website with a step-by-step

https://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/download/current.php

And the below link is the user manual, which tells you how to run a scan on a specific car:

Hi Buddy,

Thanks for this however i have the software and used it before sorry for not being clear.

What i wanted to know was how would i diagnose a misfire with the software, what indications and figures would help, and can i publish a report with the figures ect to pass onto a garage if its not glow / spark plug related.

The adv. measuring blocks for the engine module should allow you to monitor the misfire counter on each cylinder.

For further diagnosis I think you can log the ignition per cylinder and also IQ deviation, but I haven't had to do it for a long time so can't remember exactly off the top of my head.
