Hi all,

Just wanted to let everyone know to be very careful, my friend has a FL BE S3 saloon and a couple of guys (appeared to be of Nomadic descent) followed her to a Co-Op she parked at. Luckily she was sitting in her locked car looking at her phone, as one of the guys was trying to open the passenger and shouting at her to get out. She managed to reverse out (with the guy still clinging on to the door handle) and get away.

A lesson to everyone to have their wits about them, look around carefully before you unlock your car and always lock it as soon as you get in. Sad times we live in!!

Thanks for the heads up.
We all need to be careful nowadays as easiest way to steal a car is with the keys.
One thing we all should do especially driving alone is set the central locking to 2 stage unlock so first press of the unlock button only unlocks drivers door and not all all the doors. A few years back a colleague of mine had some weirdo get in the passenger side of her car while she was leaving work late. Luckily security was around in the work car park and scared him away.

This was in Watford but could happen anywhere

Someone else I know was sitting in a Q3 and a guy jumped in the passenger seat and told her to give him her bag which she did. Lucky he didn't push her out and steal the car too

crazy would expect Q3 to lock all round on driving away?

have been careful on arriving home but not so much out and about, will be more vigilant now.

all doors lock on pulling away and only driver on open.

She was sitting in a parked car, I presume she'd just got into it.

Good shout @AlS3BE about 2 stage locking, I'm going to enable that too!

I always lock from the inside as soon as I get in. never wait for the auto lock once you're moving.

thieves tried to get into my house at midnight on the 10th probably to get the key. they couldn't get past the first door and left.

police have been useless as per usual. (not their fault, probably have hundreds of cases just like it)

Mines automatically locks as I drive away. I've had several conversations with females regarding this

Doesn't it only lock above a certain speed? like 5mph or something? That lady could have been in a shopping centre or car park when it happened I guess...

They all do but that's only at 10 mph or whatever so once you set off, no good if you unlock the car and sit in it

Mines locks about 4mph and stays locked even when I stop. Isn't it strange this instincts the daily news risks of car jacking and how to avoid

So does mine (and everyone else's car) which is what prevented those scum from stealing my friend's car, however the other lady (who sat in the car after unlocking it) wasn't so fortunate

I worked with a lad a good few years back, he told me that his brother was sitting at a junction in his car when a guy came up and shot him through his drivers window, opened the door and pulled him out, got in the car and drove away whilst leaving him dead on the floor...South Africa!

Sadly a very very common occurrence in South Africa, shoot 1st and life is cheap. A mate of mine a number of years back had a bloke jump on the back of his pickup and aim a gun, he floored it and ended up being shot through the hand, but thief went flying off the back in the process

That is why this was invented out there many years ago:

There was a video couple yrs ago think Manchester women got jacked out of her x5 in broad daylight nobody tried to help but they told her to get out of the car and she did ????

wow that flame thrower is mad, explain that one when you find out they only came up to tell you that your rear lights weren't working :p

Lol, sorry about that, I am trigger happy.
Plenty people carry firearms out there, not quite on the scale of the US of A, hit lots of 9mm, .38 specials and other handguns around. Some even have special mounts made so they can pull trigger through door when demanded to get out.

Another SA invention, genius
