Raceglaze 7l water filter

Used mine on Thursday. And still ended up with water spots on the windscreen. Don’t know weather this was from before the final rinse or not but they were a paint to remove. And now I have smearing from polish residue I’d imagine. IPA hasn’t helped any. I hate trying to keep glass clean

Can't say I have ever had spots after using my race glaze so something wrong going on with yours. Did you test the water?

Won't work straight out of the box, it'll be alright after a few gallons of water have passed through it. If you had before your pressure washer it won't have had a lot of water go through yet.

That or it needs to be bigger. In the dark blue areas on that map posted a 14-15 litre jobbie will be best.

Yeah was 0ppm. I’m guessing it’s From was from washing soap off using a normal hose as it was sunny. Never mind there gone now. New blades will come today so hopefully solve the smearing

So refilled raceglaze today, as was reading 15ppm...shock horror

This was last filled in Oct/Nov time, and maybe done 30 or so final rinses and also refilled windscreen washer tanks on two cars a few times.

Used a cut up milk bottle and taped up the tube so resin didn’t go in it.

Filled as much as I could, then ran water through, was reading 3ppm. Opened up and topped up, and now 0ppm

This is what I am using, have refilled twice now in 14 months and probably half a bag left

I succumbed, and filter arrived this morning. Been thinking about it for a while...the sun came out as i started to dry the car last weekend and before you could say "boo" had water sports galore on the car. Black car, east facing drive, so have been limited as to when I can clean the car, hopefully no longer!!

Tested the water and it comes it over 400ppm, so be interesting to see how long the resin actually lasts!

Mate, you won’t regret it, seriously one of my best detailing products. That is high! Mine is normally 270ppm, and have changed resin twice in 14 months, but use a lot..also black car. You will find the 0ppm water runs off paintwork much easier so even if you dry, much easier.

Worth keeping an eye on window cleaning product sites for deal on resin. I got mine for £65 for 25L, but price does vary

I'm certainly hoping so...! Just run through a half watering can to get it going, and the TDS meter has dropped from 404ppm, to 2ppm!! Certainly seems to do what it is says on the tin!!! :grinning:

If only there was something as easy to keep the neighbourhood cats away!! :rage:

Don’t get me started on cats

We have 4 or 5 of the below, doing the trick for us and have been for about 5 years. Worth a look on amazon as they sometimes have deals on, you can buy them in packs of 2 or 3 too. Been running them on Panasonic Eneloop batteries which perform well. Would recommend their fast charger as it indicates when they are fully charged.

I let parts of my car dry by it’s selfs ( half bonnet ) and it does still leave a few marks but they ain’t white and wipe off very easily with some detailer. Daytona gray if it matters

Brilliant. Was just about to spank a tenner + postage on their DI refill kit:

Her: Why are you drinking a pint of milk?
Me: No reason, just had loads of coffee already today :whistle2:

Nice one @X3man - you’ve just saved me a tenner+ (and cost her a quid, lol)

What sort of setup are you using for the hose? Is it hose->DI vessel->hose reel or do you have a short length of hose between the DI vessel and the spray head?

I use short hose from tap to vessel, then another from the “out” to the hose reel (have separate hose for DI water) but sometimes just connect up to Karcher

Thanks that helps me picture it. I think I was stuck on a pre reel vs. post reel setup. :)

Anyone have a link to a recommended water reading device? Really to need to get one for when the time comes to check the resin quality.

Can’t post Amazon links, but I have this one. Can get cheaper, but this has good reviews and works for me:

Just ordered the prozor, £9.99 if you buy direct from the seller on amazon. Looking forward to seeing what my reading is. Then I’ll probably invest in a filter, soft water area so the resin should last a fair while.

Why pay for something you don't use, silly me, this is the detailing forum :)

Too true, but £10 vs. £7 small margins.
So subjective and costly at times...detailing that is, bit effort always more important than product used

so washed the car this afternoon, second rinse through the filter and left to air dry just to see. a few spots around, but nothing like it would have been without it!!

a couple of alleged "cat scarers" plonked in the front borders, now to see if that'll deter the damn things from s*****g on the lawn!! time will tell but fingers crossed.

Tested my water and it’s 40ppm. Low although I still get water spots but nothing like when I lived in Northamptonshire. Going to order a Di vessel for the convenience of not bothering to dry.

Haha, more than welcome. I too looked at the refill kit and thought they are taking the p*ss

I thought so too, Nev, but still went and purchased one anyway - no pockets in shrouds - and nothin's too good for an Audi, Audi, Audi

£13.44 for a funnel and a bung and a set of instructions, posted: and here's the Raceglaze refill instructions:

Refill instructions

Note: purchased mine in August 2018 and I used it several times a week for car wash rinse, wash house windows, etc., and still @ 2ppm filter outlet (filter inlet @ 278ppm) and still using original resin fill: a GREAT piece of kit...
