We have an A3 TFSI 2010, we have owned it for six years with no issues, now recently after driving and the vehicle is parked up there is a smell of petrol fumes in and around the car. There are no visible leaks, loss of fuel visible pipes that have come adrift and the vehicle drives ok.
Any suggestions?

You can’t see any leaks because by the time you stop the car and start looking around for a leak, the petrol has evaporated.
Leave the engine running and have a sniff round and try and find where the odour is the worst. If there any signs of misfires then you’ll have petrol odour from the exhaust and in the engine oil, have a sniff at the dipstick. Other than that it will need detailed look at the fuel pipework and fuel pump in the engine bay.

Check the fuel filter under the drivers door (or was on mine) as Ii had a damaged fuel pipe clip and it was leaking. Hope it's not that as real pain to get the new pipe on from the tank.

When I had this issue, I replaced the N80 valve which is located at the front of the inlet manifold (about £45) and I replaced the fuel filler cap (£16) - the o’ring had started to perish.

I’d already done the fuel filter so in my case it wasn’t the filter.

Well good news for me it turned out to be a bulging fuel filter. Cheap and easy fix happy days
