My car is now coming up for 3 years old and the spanner has come up for the above service. I have already had the flexible service done. I recently had the car mot'd and asked for the brake fluid to be tested - it passed with flying colours and boiling bit they test was well above the limit. In view of this and that I am likely to hand the car back in the next 6 months and that it has only done 15k miles I have at the moment decided not to have the fluid renewed but cant work out how to put the light out - the mmi only lets you reset the oil (major) service interval so can the spanner/inspection be reset by carista/obd11 or other methods?

Thanks

Sure it’s not low brake pad warning?

Thanks - I am not sure but pretty certain it is not that - the car has only done 15k and I was advised by the dealer a while back that the brake fluid inspection/light was due in September so seems too much of a coincidence?

Brake fluid is hygroscopic why scrimp on having it changed for around £60

Especially on the presumption you are handing the car back in 6 months.

A 3 year car should have had it changed.

Thanks - I may still have it done but would be interested in the answer to my question if anyone knows. I had it tested specifically to find out if needed replacing as opposed to it being flagged up on a time interval

The warning must be on a timer. For new cars the recommendation is normally three years and every two years after that. The test merely tests the moisture absorbed by the fluid - the testers are inexpensive and as you say, your fluid is OK in this respect - which doesn't surprise me. Brake fluid also contains an anti-corrosion inhibitor which also breaks down over time - the test does not measure this.
