Hi guys i know this has been asked before but cant find a definitive answer, will i be okay with 235's on 8.5j et45 on the front without any rubbing? i have tried 8.5j with 245's on the rear and had no issues. Even better anyone got any pictures of this setup?

Thanks in advance :sos:

cheers buddy

Mate - 8.5j with ET45 will be equivalent of running 21mm spacers all round.

You will 100% get rubbing ...

If you don’t mind the car rubbing on every bump in the road.

You need to stick with 8j or under on a S3 unless you stretch 225 tyres on 8.5j wheels and have an ET of 50+

rs3 arches are wider arn't they?

Yes pal, that’s why I’m making sure ha hight your fine, width of tyre, just be sure the caliper clears the wheel with the ET45 you have.

Depends if it's lowered. I've got 225 on 8.5j et45 and it rubs but that's cus it's really low to the point you can just about get the tip of your finger in the arch gap

Does it rub more on the front or back? Thinking of getting 8j front and 8.5j rear, seems like there is a lot more room at the back

Front I'd say as it's the wheels turning in and out of the arch when cornering. And the back you can add camber to stop the rubbing. 8J will still rub if lowered, it's down to the offset. Some people say 215 tyres stop any rubbing but it's a lot of stretch on an 8.5j wheel.

How low is the car? Will help with any advise.

Car is stock height but was intending to lower it soon buy about 30-40 mm, how much is your lowered roughly? Looks really nice that btw mate, sitting nice! Not alot of room for play thought, was tempted by 8j front and 8.5j rear as i have some new 245 tyres, but looking at your photos i don't think id get a 245 under there nice. I had some 8.5j et29 on 245s on the rear and they only rubbed a little so was thinking on et45 id get away with it buy maybe not haha

It’s all the way down on ap coilovers, if your lowering it you’ll have issues with anything wider than 225 tyres as you can see from the photos.

Stick to 225 width tyres. Anything over that with 8.5 width will rub on the arch at the rear with passengers, even with stock suspension. I ran 225's with 8.5" ET 43 and they used to catch on the felt arch liner over speed bumps.
