Bought my a3 saloon yesterday and the bald guy only gave me 30£ of my gap insurance... I paid the car outright if that helps? But he didn't give me any discount. He also said he will only give me £20 of petrol... Is this normal?

It would depend on many things . Cost of the car . How close troop sales targets they are . Who the dealer is , many factors would come into it .

I used to go out with a car salesman (worst years of my life). Anyway, I always pay cash for cars and can always get a bit off but he used to say that they made a lot of commission on selling add ons like Gap, Lifeshine, wheel and tyre insurance when they can all be bought privately for a lot less. They also got commission for selling finance. There was a lot more to make the customer think that they were getting a discount when they had finance and add ons.

You would have gotten a bigger discount if you'd financed it

New or used?
Good bargaining point is DriveTheDeal prices
You may still get a better deal selling your current car thro' the likes of WeBuyAnyCar & then buying a discounted car thro' the likes of DriveTheDeal

Audi dealer used car finance at 10.9% is crazy IMHO
Personal loans are down at around 3%

GAP? Always check ALA & look google discount codes for them before you buy

Petrol/diesel? You at the very least want a full tank

Just my thoughts

PS Oh & 'Car Sales Executives'? Don't get me started! :gun2:
