Needed some more space so changed from an A4 to a A6 c7.5 BE, about 4 weeks ago. Saw an easy upgrade if your gear leaver button faces forwards this is how I did mine:
This takes all of 30 mins, if the trigger is sideways it's much trickier, not covering the sideways fitment change there are loads of YouTube videos out there if you are brave.
0. Put the leaver into neutral, I've read it's the only location the leaver will remove from.
1. Trim removal tool to loosen the edge of gear leaver gaiter, work round, lifting small sections at a time.
2. Trim tool to pull the trigger outwards, once out stick a zip clip under it to stop it locking in.
3. Pull the gaiter up so it's kinda inside out.
4. Turn the little nut thingie on the inside of the gaiter.
5. Once you are happy it's disengaged, pull the head of the leaver up.
That's the old one off. The new one has a red pin to stop the button from being pressed in, if you press that button too early it locks closed, and it a right royal pita to get it back out. I know this as I did it on the old one, and had a fight to get it back out.
6. On the new leaver, pull the button out and insert a zip clip under to stop the button being pressed in when installing.
7. Remove the red pin.
8. Now it just needs pushing down fully, it's a little shorter than the old one so just be sure it's fully seated.
9. Remove zip clip, press button. If it's seated low enough it engages with the leaver mechanism.
10. Replace the gaiter.
