So my wife’s 2016 M135i has been incredible fun if somewhat frustrating as we seem to be able exploit the cars performance less and less on UK roads

So we have been looking to change for a while considering m240i from trl which would leave the same frustrations

We had an incredible trl deal on the M135i at just over 300 a month so always going to be an increase on monthlies

We both love BMW’s having each had e 1 series, I had e90 but BMW just have nothing we currently fancy

I moved to Audi 4 years ago with the a6 and now have an a3

So Saturady we got an offer we couldn’t refuse on a tt 40tfsi black edition in turbo blue, tech pack, 20 inch alloys etc

Achieved just over 23% discount which is good for Audi I feel

So we will miss the M135i and hopefully be back in one some day. so in the space of 2 month s 2 new audi will have joined the family

Is the next M135i or M140 (I believe its reverted back to M135?) going to be an Xdrive, or come in an Xdrive variant? Might have been worth the wait...

M135i will be xdrive and 4 pot - trouble is new release will be well above £500 a month as there will be little support from launch

also not convinced on looks and anythign over 2 packs takes you above 40K so £500 a year road tax

and yes its about monthlies - not looking to invest any of our savings on a depraciating asset - happy to rent a car under a PCP

Your tt is over £40k is it not?

no mate 38k

its a 40tfsi stronic with tech pack - not quattro or the 45 edition

they tried pushing us to the 45 edition but pushes above 40k

I do think the current version of the TT is the best yet. The interiors are by far the best interior Audi do. It's just a shame they cost so damn much.

Awesome discount though. If I could get that on an RS4 or 5, I'd be seriously temped.

At least if you're sat in it, you can't see how ugly it is. I know the 1 series has never been what you would call a good lucking car, but Jesus Christ, how the hell did that get signed off?

The TT is a great looking car, and I love the turbo blue colour. I presume you took if for a test drive, coming from a rear wheel drive 330bhp car to a front wheel drive car with less than 200bhp is some difference.

That's a cracking discount...most I saw was 16% when I looked, think that took the price to £31k with just a paid colour and the 20" non black alloys.

And now soon to be discontinued
R before the S =little discount as you well know
Although You'll still get a good bit of discount off the RS4/5 As they ain't selling as well as they thought they would

Great discount, and the TT is a great looking car...especially in BE spec and Turbo Blue. Remember pics :icon thumright:

cheers TYb, some initial thoughts

positives
looks a subjective but I think the turbo blue and black edition elements look superb
it handles like its on rails (although not as engaging as the M135i it replaced which is expected as its an Audi)
cabin is superb and finish is outstanding
VC is awesome - know this from my a3
ride is great considering its on 20's - all audis seem to master this - my a6 was the same
only done around 200 miles in it but on a long run we saw average of 49mpg which is great

negatives
miss some features of my a3 which should be standard on this car - puddle lights, illuminated door sills whee all extra which we didn't bother with it
Audi sound system is adequate - knew this from the outset but wasn't payng 1k for B&O
VC is great although because we have no central screen on the dash its very driver focused - again knew this from the outset
