Hi all,

Just had an interesting conversation with the local Audi dealership who are saying that as the car (S3) was not serviced at an Audi dealership it is worth less and they cannot sell in their dealership and have to send to auction instead.

Now I have spoken to the Audi specialist who has serviced the car and they have confirmed that they update the digital service record direct and pay Audi for the privilege of doing this! I obviously have copies of all of the invoices from the services, oil changes, etc.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Where do I stand?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Louis

It’s always been the case. A full dealership service history is ‘perceived’ to be better and worth a bit more. Easier for a dealership to sell as well as it’s been serviced by Audi so been looked after, I say that loosely.
I’ve traded in Audi’s to a dealership without a dealership history and it goes straight on the forecourt sometimes without even a clean

A car is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it..........I would think for most of the buying public if there were two identical cars, 1 with dealer stamps one without then the dealer stamped car would sell first. Whether the value is impacted is subjective but so what if it goes to auction, presumably if you are selling and had agreed a price (did they ask if it had an Audi service history for example) then that should be honoured else just walk away and deal with another dealer?

I can see the dealers point as he will only really want fash clean shiny cars on his Audi forecourt. Not sure why you say "where do i stand".

What Al said above is correct. FASH is always deemed to be worth more despite an Indy doing everything the same and usually better!

Find a dealer or private buyer who knows their cars and you'll get more for the car as they understand these things. I'm happily going to an Indy with my car as I'll be saving money and know things will be done properly and looked after.

It may be swings and roundabouts, you pay less for the services at an indy, but the value of the car is less (at least to an Audi dealer). Agree with whats been said above, in that a dealer will generally want a FASH car on their forecourt.

I service mine myself (with genuine parts and service history recorded on ErWin) so I dread to think what an Audi dealer will give me for it!

Take it another dealer or sell privately.

As others have said though. FASH is preferable to any potential buyer, even though both have been serviced the same.

Thanks for all the responses guys much appreciated

Will see what they are valuing the car at and take it from there.

When I sold my S3 Audi were offering the lowest of anyone even though I was buying another car from them. I sold it to a sports car specialist who gave me £1,500 more than Audi had offered. 1st service was with Audi, 2nd was with an independent specialist....when I asked him if the car would have been worth more if I'd had the 2nd service done with Audi as well, he said no!

Apparently anyone who VT's an audi even if it has a full audi history they send it straight to auction as well.

I just get the best offer from people like WBAC after agreeing a discount . They can match or not , up to them

Yep I’ve heard that about when you VT, pretty sure it’s the same for all manufacturers.

Any car whether VT or end of term all go to BCA or equivalent auction type companies. dealerships don’t want VT cars as they will probably just go to the auctions and buy them back cheaper than offering you a trade in. They also only want cars they can sell quickly.
