afternoon everyone.

Just noticed some damage on my car today that’s very minor I’m guessing someone has clipped my car in a car park or something and just drove away and I got minor damage insurance when I bought my car via lookers

But I’ve a couple of questions before contacting them about it

Claiming through this won’t effect my car insurance at all will it ??

Also is there anything else I should consider before going down this route ??

I’ve added a couple photos to show the damage

Thanks

Option 1 , claim on insurance trust you're paying for . Probably pay increased premium next time round .

Option 2 , smart repair from a company like Chips Away . Do it at home or your work place .

Option 3 , local body shop . Probably won't charge a great deal for that .

Thanks for your input.

I’m going to go out and get some quotes while the sales guy sorts the minor damage insurance out as they didn’t transfer the new car onto it when I handed back my original a4

I did ring the minor damage place and they said it doesn’t effect my insurance in anyway. There called premium soloitions or something and they come to your house to repair minor damage.

Ive seen these companies do repairs on a friends Tiguan, Whilst he was happy with it, i pointed out lots of imperfections with the repair. So make sure you check everything before and aft repairs.

I used to work in a body shop about 10 years ago so I know what to look for. The one thing I hate about many body shops is what they call orange peel effect. When the spray looks like the skin or a orange.

As soon you inform your insurance regardless if you claim or not your next few premiums will increase. I know I've been stung by this before :tired:

That’s what I want to avoid. This isn’t with my insurance it was a policy taken out from lookers Audi when buying the car. It gives you 3k damage limit for 3 years max 1k per claim though for something daft like 299 when buying the car.

I managed to get it for free so hopefully it has come in handy

This is basically a smart repair insurance policy.
Nothing at all to do with your normal insurance and will not in anyway effect it !

The only way this minor damage could increase your policy is if you call your normal insurance company and tell them your car has been hit in a car park and you want to get it sorted

As said it is a franchise type operation and normally some one will come to you to sort it ,though some of the larger dealer groups have there own body shops that will deal with it that of course depends up on location

Actually even if you are hit by a 3rd party and they admit full liability your own insurance will still put it on your history as a non fault claim thus increasing your premium- been there done that

You already have a policy that will cover it !!
The one from lookers is a stand-alone policy that many dealerships now sell, can get cover for things like minor damage ( like you have) alloy wheel cover is another one

Your own insurance is not informed of any claims you make !
I hated selling such products when I was in car sales as although the commision I got was good most people for what ever reason either never claimed or the damage was too severe to claim !

Do not pay £100 for the work to be done when you can get it done free and with no detrimental effect to your normal insurance .

Thanks buddy. Claim made waiting on them getting someone to phone me to have the work done. Quite annoyed as they didn’t even leave an apology note

Make sure you take some good photos of the damage before repair..just for your own records.

Handy when selling the car on, if someone asks about any damage you can show how minor it was.

I’ve got some photos but never thought about keeping them. The car will be going back to Audi anyways once I’ve payed 50% as I’ll be nearly 30 years young and I’ll be getting my self a used s4 avant or s5 ( propee version not a tdi model )

Little update on this

Claimed through the minor damage, was notified that the dealer never changed the docs over after I rejected the first car. They said it was fine as they would back date it to when I got the car all seemed fine.

Got a email yesterday saying they were going to send it to a Audi body shop ( lookers north east in my case ). So I rang them and asked if they had recived the documents they needed off the salesman and they confirmed they had but they were going to cancel the claim because the docs weren’t correct at the time or the claim.

I Emailed my salesmen and told him what I was told etc and explained that If he had sent the document they requested back in may this would never have happened and as the claim was originally accepted that I feel I shouldn’t need to foot the bill as I had a policy that wasn’t worth the paper it was wrote on because he didn’t send the document that they requested.

He apologised and after a couple of hours emailing back and fourth I’ve managed to get him to agree that I won’t foot the bill and the dealership will now pay the bill so over all I’m happy again. Just have to wait for the sales manager to authorise it tomorrow.

I have to say even with the faults on the first car and this little mess up Newcastle Audi have been absolutely fantastic. And if anyone in and around the area are looking for a car I’d recommend going in and having a chat with lee or jack
