I'm curious what tire size have people tried? I love the ride of my winter 225/40/18's
But I love the look of my 235/35/19's. I was thinking about doing 235/40/19 to get the comfort of the 18's and the look of the 19's. But I'm not sure if they would rub on a stock setup or just look stupid. I figured I'd ask and maybe get some pics of people running non-standard tire sizes on their S3's

My 19's are close to being spent so I'm ready to try something new on my summer rims.
Man I wish I could just spend the day in a tire shop with a machine and unlimited sizes and rims to see what feels and looks the best. But the internet is the next best thing I know you guys have probably tried some crazy combos.

Thanks for your help!

235/35/19 on 8x19 ET45 rims. Tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5. The ride is quieter and more comfortable than on factory fitted 225/40/18 Dunlop Sport Maxx RT (AO).

With new wheels 3

Those may be right up my alley. I just want a little more comfort and I do like the DWS-06's they're my favorite all season tires. Still it only goes from a 82mm to 85mm sidewall I'm not sure if that will be enough to smooth out the bad roads here. Looks good though. wonder if a 255/35/19 would fit on a 8.5" rim well? That would give a 89mm sidewall that may be perfect since my 18's at 225/40/18 have a 90mm sidewall. the 255's should give the same comfort.

man I wish that you could try before you buy. I'd hate to order 255's and they rub. I'm torn now between 245's and 255's on a 8.5 with a 44mm offset.
255 seems perfect if it wouldn't rub.

Those DWS-06 245/35/19 are a smoother ride than the Pirelli P Zero 235/35/19 OEM tyres.

I really want to try the 255's but I don't see anyone running them without spacers. There's about 2" before I hit the shock with the 235's so I think they may fit but that's a thousand dollar mistake if they don't.

Fuk it I just ordered the 255/35/19's let's give it a shot. if it fits. wider and more comfortable will be amazing.

It's a bust after receiving them and mocking them up I'm not confident that they will fit with the ET44. If I was willing to change rims or run spacers I would keep them but. I'll be returning them for 245/35/19's.

Thanks so much guys I love these 245/35/19's someday I'll try again with the 255's but these are fantastic. The perfect size for the S3 on the stock offset.

Wauw! :hubbahubba: Looks great - maybe a little spacer on the rear would be advisable? ;) Btw, are those headlights legal?

The headlights are probably not legal. But I guess the cops don't notice with the led running lights . I've already been pulled over for my side tint and had to remove the 20% .I'm running 35% now . Still illegal but I love the look .

I like your approach to what is legal vs to what suits you :) I have the sides tinted too, though I'm not as brave as you and my sides are 70%. I considered doing them 50% but the tint guy said he had been pulled over many times but was able to talk the cops off. No chance for me at that, as a heavy accented immigrant.

As to the head lights, I like the look but what about the light output? Can you see anything before the car in the dark?

The tinting laws are a little ridiculous. You can see perfectly fine even lower than 35% at night. if you did a 35% rear 50% fronts I doubt police would bother you. Especially if you have a sunroof and you leave the shade open when traveling through picky towns. That really brightens up the interior.
As for the lights I purchased the car with the head and tail lights tinted. And out of my 3 cars the s3 has the brightest lights even with the tint on. My mini cooper is second and then my Cadillac SRX even with upgraded LEDs just sucks. I hate driving the SRX at night.

When I was pulled over with the tint that came on the car the cop said it was 14% on the front. It's not to bad to try it and see I only pay $100 to get it redone and the cops usually just issue a fix it ticket so if you remove it and show them there's no charge.

My green car doesn't help. I ran 20% all around on my Chevy volt and never had a tint ticket. Even when getting pulled over for speeding they said nothing about the tint on that car. With this car they pass the people behind me to pull me over :)

That yellow outside line on the DWS-06 will take quite a few miles to disappear on the rear tyres....what is your opinion of that tyre. I am a happy camper with mine.

Yeah one of my favorite tires they really do everything well . I have them on all 3 of my cars . And my 18" winter rims . Which I'll be selling now .

Can anyone help and let me know if 245/35/19 8.5J ET40 will fit S3 8v Saloon?

Thanks
