Hey,

So my cigarette lighter has constant power even with the engine off.

I ended up buying a socket with a power button to turn my dash cam off. The only issue is, the socket has led numbers that always display and stay on all the time with engine off.

Does anyone know whether thevfuse box contains 2 fuse options, i.e. 1 for constant power and the other for off when engine is off? I read somewhere some cars have this.

Car is 8p s-line

Cheers.

Just buy a hardwire kit off eBay for your dash cam, about a tenner

Yes there are 2 positions in the fuse box. From memory it’s to the right.
But check first. There are some posts about wiring dash cams on here.

This is normal behaviour for the cigarette lighter. I hard wired my camera into the fuse box (to the right of the steering wheel), using a voltmeter to find a switched fuse position.

Thanks, it's really annoying and I don't trust myself to hard wire anything!

Just use piggyback fuse holders.

For the live, use your test light or multimeter to find a fuse that live when the car is off.

For the switched live (accessory) use the rear wiper (which I think is) as per my photo below.

For the earth, there is loads on chassis screws to secure against.
