Good point - forgot you could do this.Right, so time that I removed the burglar alarm delay then!
What is that?Right, so time that I removed the burglar alarm delay then!
And a nice video on his FB page of how these gadgets work.

Yup; me too.Well that's an excuse for me to dust off the disklock and start using it.
Unbelievable
I only have a garage and GAP insurance, but from what I have read it seems that the majority of cars are stolen from driveways so maybe my garage makes all the difference. One thing my insurance policies have always stipulated is that if my car is at home, it must be in the garage overnight.
I guess I might feel different when my GAP expires next year.
The garage is the best security you can have, if they can’t see it they can’t take it. My car is in storage while I have a double garage built to put both cars in, I couldn’t risk leaving it on my drive, even for just a few weeks.
I was given a piece of advice a while back by a friends dad who is a copper. As I turn into the avenues where I live off the main road, I always watch my mirror to see if anyone turns in behind me. If they do I drive straight past my house and round the block again to make sure I’m not being followed before I turn into my driveway and on into the garage.
People think I’m mad for doing it but you never can be too careful
so sorry to hear another stolen.
One thing I would say is maybe refrain from giving away too much of your security gizmos on here, you never know with stolen to order cars as you might just give them enough info to prepare to take it.
For anyone wanting to do the same, snapshot of the adaption for the alarm delay:

Tested with the blade from the keyless key (rest of the key out of range) and sure enough the alarm sounded immediately upon unlocking.
VCDS is a software that lets you access the cars control modules to do things like altering functional coding, adapting new parts to the car and monitoring/clearing fault codes etc.
Ok I'm with you. For me to access this and alter the alarm delay what would I need or could someone do it for me etc?
Most people use licenced software and odb2 cables that connect via USB or Bluetooth to a PC with the software.
OBD Eleven is a mobile phone app that lets you connect via their Bluetooth obd2 dongle. The functionality is nearly the same but probably lacks some of the functionality that can be performed via VCDS.
Ghost is a good investment.Well looks like I will be adding ghost to my list of things to do to car along with remap and ceramic coating. Think ghost will be the 1st thing done after this convo
Just tried to do this, couldn’t find the option in my version of Carista.Carista have, thanks to yours truly, just added an option to reduce the time delay between door opening and alarm sounding from factory set 15 secs to 0 sec. Look for
"Anti-theft system delay between trying to open door and alarm firing".
You'll need to used the plastic valet key to open the door without disarming the alarm to test. Tested and working!
I'm on 5.0.2I'm on version 5.1 and it's under heading "locking: Doors and alarm"
