My car was booked into Audi today for coolant loss which apparently turned out to be an air lock from previous repair but when they phoned to report the car was ready for collection they said my car showed a T code which means it's been chipped and warranty was void? the only thing that's happened between it's last visit to Audi and this one is I've bought an OBD11 and turned off start stop, the guy said they would investigate further to cause of the above code but now I'm concerned as I'm about to extend the warranty for another year.

Wouldn't have thought so, I turned off start stop and other things with Carista and had a leaking thermostat replaced under warranty. No errors from their scans.
In fact my local place asks to let them know so when they do software updates it won't wipe the mods.

I would hope it not the dreaded TD1
As far as I know once it’s been flagged it can’t be removed as it’s stored in Audi hq servers not the car itself.
Technically any changes to factory spec through coding can be a warranty void job but only on the component you changed. So if you changed coding for headlight it shouldn’t affect your engine or gearbox warranty.
Not sure what’s involved in changing stop start but there’s a button on the dash to switch it off.
Mine went in for service with a few coding changes for lights and a few other vcds tweaks and it wasn’t flagged.
Maybe the stop start coding changes are on the engine module so seen as a change to factory spec. Only guessing.

Think some dealers are better than others when it comes to warranty claims on a modded car. Might just depend on what type of dealer you're using.

The problem I see here is that you have been sold a mapped car unbeknown to you, that to me is a bit of a biggie tbh.

According to the master tech I spoke with they have nothing to do with the td1 flag. They plug computer in and it checks against what’s on file and any deviation it will get flagged automatically.

It was in 6 months ago to the same dealership and they checked it then and all was normal, checked today and it flagged up as ecu being modified and all i’ve done is the obd11 mods so definitely not mapped. They’ve requested more information from Audi on what exactly the T codes relate too.

I see, they way I read it is that the car was chipped.
I use obdeleven but I don’t use Audi for my service work.
Might be worth contacting obdeleven on this to see if they can shed any light on it

I doubt they will be of any help. There will be some clause use at your own risk as you are altering car from factory spec.

@Tictap you need to find out which flag Audi has used. There’s the td1 flag which is remap and the worse one to have on your car but I think there’s less severe flags.
Either way I doubt there would be any point in getting extended warranty if it’s been flagged as the major items like engine/gearbox won’t be covered.

Yeah waiting on a call from the dealers when they get the info from Audi, pretty gutted really as definitely wanted the extended warranty but like you say probably a waste of time now!!

Interesting question.
If you are enabling existing functionality through configuration changes I would think Audi have no authority to void the warranty i.e. the car is still doing what Audi have coded/tested..........examples being different markets have different legal requirements for DRLs.
However if you are 'coding' and changing their base then I think they have a point but disabling start stop would not be one of them.

There’s might be a way to remove the flag/code. I’m not sure how though but your dealer should be able to advise.

This is probably a due to the whole dieselgate thing so any modification to emission related items will get flagged.
Just read vag just got busted for cheating AGAIN. Their fix for the cheat device they had included coding for another cheat device. Basically the fix doesn’t work if ambient temps fall or go above a certain limit.

If I am correct they can tell you when it was put on.

Got me worried now hehe, I turned on the chirp, turned off the fake noise thing and enabled the window up/down feature if you keep lock/unlock pressed on the remote (couldn't figure out the reverse NS mirror tilt thing)

It'll be my luck it voids warranty.... /nervouschuckle

Like I said, I'd done the same and had no issues when my S3 went in for warranty work on a leaking thermostat.

S5 was also fine the other week when it went in for warranty to fix the faulty seatbelt retriever.

Did you disable stop start?

Yup on the S3 I did with Carista. Nothing was said.

Strange one then. They must have found something they didn’t like. I’ve done so much coding on mine and a couple of retrofits and they didn’t mention on mine.
Never felt the need to turn off stop start on any of my cars though.

I agree 100% every dealer is different, some are more relaxed with mods done then others.
