2013 8V Spare Key & Navigation Issue

Hi All,

Been ages since i was part of this forum, but back in the fold with a family members 8V. We recently purchased the car used from a trader. We are certain when we first test drove the car it had the navigation, We clicked on navigation and the maps did display and our current location.

Since purchasing however we think the SD card has been removed as the navigation now says, "Navigation not enabled

If this is the case, Do we simply need a replacement SD card to place inside and we are good to go? I have read regarding activation but i am certain it did have navigation on the test drive. I am concerned by the message which is saying it is not enabled however which leads me to think this car never had navigation to begin with which will mean the expensive activation from an Audi Dealer.

Secondly, The spare remote key did not work at all, I replaced both key fob batteries as the current key also said battery low. The main key works fine post the battery change, The spare key however causes some very strange issues.

• Remote fob lights when you press lock/unlock, However it does not communicate with the car
• If we use the spare key to start the engine, The engine will start but intermittently may stall and flags up a gearbox malfunction!
• When using the spare key to start the car, The electric windows do not work

I have VCDS and cleared the codes for the gearbox and carried on using the main key which when used works perfectly fine. Any ideas how i should activate the spare key again?

Thanks guys, The dealer was cargiant so they have agreed to take the car back in on Thursday to rectify these items. The navigation im going to leave to them but im sure there is something with the key we need to programme or resync back to the car. Im hopeful there is an easy synchronisation method.

Key does work in the lock barrel, i can start the car but very oddly it struggles to start with this key and occasionally stalls. It does also throw up a gearbox malfunction when using this additional key. I clear everything via VCDS and use the original key and no issues so it is very strange.

You are right there is a method such as the one below. I think it is different for the 8v but sure it is in the manual, try searching on key link or key sync, loads of posts on it.

Lock the car from outside with the key in lock

then unlock car and remove key and press lock/unlock on remote

then Put key in ignition and move to the click before turning the engine over

take key out and press lock or unlock hopefully that will sync key to central locking.

Thank you, I did try similar by looking at some other posts but i will refer to the manual and what you mentioned above and give it a try again. If all else fails its back to the dealer.
