I have and I know they are good, but the cars are too large for me, especially Avants, as it is only usually me in the car and I'm wanting to stay below the 40k excise tax threshold. I have looked at all the Audi models but none are suitable and the new A3 is only due out next year which is too late for me...

I've been taking an interest in the new S4 Avant as it seems to tick quite a few boxes for me. I went through drive the deal and specced up one with Navarra blue paintwork, C+S pack, storage pack and the larger Adblue tank. I think the quote came in around £53,200 but with around £10,500 discount it came in at £42,700.
The APR for this model is 5.9% (compared to 4.9 for the A4) and with a £10,800 deposit on a 4 year 10,000 miles per year deal, with a GFV of £21,375 the monthlies came in at £350. I've been using this site to play around with the figures once I found out the discounted price, APR used and GFV after 4 years ( couldn't post the link but just search for car finance PCP calculator and plug in the numbers.)
I'd be interested to hear peoples views on the GFV figure. Seems like a 60% drop in value from the list price and 51% drop in value from the discounted price.

As I understand there is no built date as yet for the S4 and anyone ordering an S6 delivery is March 2020 (at the earliest). And they both diesels....
I'm not sure about the S6 but I was told if I ordered the S4 it would be a delivery date of the end of November which surprised me!

Have they given you an idea of expected delivery date for that? I didn't even realise they were being offered for lease actually. Can I ask where you got it from?

Are you sure it is a GFV? Afaik GFV's were dropped a while back so now the R/Keeper takes the risk on value at term end. Also the value they give tends to be 50% of the amount borrowed as that way you can't VT until the borrowing period is almost up.

A long story fairly well rehearsed on this thread. I ordered a petrol S4 via VWFS in April 2018, WLTP intervened and I held on to my existing VWFS lease (Golf R) ever since. It was a good deal then, has been price protected and, with the transition to diesel / increase in list price, has become an even better deal. Hence why I stayed with it. If I was buying I'd have cancelled long ago but I'm not, so haven't! Diesel actually suits my mileage and journey pattern quite well and will save me a fair amount on fuel costs, so I'm quite content.

Sorry I have actually read about this but just didn't realise it was you that it happened to! Sounds like a bit of slip up from Audi's point of view but maybe every cloud has a silver lining and this is yours!
I've watched quite a few video reviews online, all from our continental friends, and apart from the sightly sheepish elephant in the room that is the diesel engine, it seems like quite a nice car to be honest...

I love it, not sure about the silver strip on the back bumper around the exhausts, or the interior colour. But the front and side views are great. Just wish I had the cash

Love the new RS6 except the rear bumper lower trim. Black optics needed to disguise that! Otherwise it's great.

Interesting to see that review but it is so not aimed at me. Most of the time spent discussing the bodywork and exhaust sound, and then a mention of mpg. The only bit about performance was a small amount of in-gear acceleration. I was waiting for the part where he would hitch a caravan to the back!
The review states lag is eliminated but also says things don't get going until 2500rpm. Well with a diesel that leaves around 1300rpm before max power is reached. Good job it's an auto...

Purely a cost saving exercise. I'm no engineer but they could of put a proper exhaust on the other side. Or just have none on the other side. Terrible.
There has always been the option of a larger fuel tank on diesels, however they have had two exhausts on the left. But doesn't the fuel tank sit forward of the rear axle anyway same place as the previous S4?
There is a cost option for a larger adblue tank on the new s4, but not a fuel tank, but I would have thought that will sit forward of the rear axle as well...

I did state there was an option for a larger adblue tank, however looking back at my post I can see how it was not clear, I blame the medication....

So it looks like the space where the exhaust box could be is indeed taken up by something else, but its the fuel tank and not the Adblue tank?
Is the AdBlue tank the part just above the fuel tank, and if so maybe a 24l version would indeed fill up that space such that the fuel tank had to be lower as it is.
I couldn't find the same diagram for the 3.0 TFSI S4 but I get the impression that Audi could have designed it so that there were exhaust boxes on both sides. I guess they realised that since a diesel engine has a lower flow rate and genuinely doesn't need it, and anyone who actually buys a diesel S4 won't care if the pipes are real or not, they just went ahead with the idea.
Fuel tanks are never placed behind the rear axle inside the crumple zone for two reasons, one the weight of fuel will have effect of the handling and two, obviously, safety...

You're better at searching than me @SMI77 . However there's no fuel tank shows so its no help.
It does seem strange @cuke2u - looking at the parts diagram for my B8, it does appear that the tank is just forward of the rear axle which matches what you state. But the diagram for the diesel S4 clearly shows that it is behind the axle.

Then the drawing is incorrect, if you look at the underside picture here below the black thing on the right hand side you can just see in front of the axle is the fuel tank. Last time fuel tanks were inside the rear crumple zone people got burned to death in accidents. And yes diesel can ignite so I doubt if a car as illustrated in that drawing would ever pass safety tests and legislation:

If you are the second owner of a car that had a list price of £40,000 do you also have to pay the £320/year for the remaining years to 5 years?
The most I've spend on a car is £22,000 so far, so I'm not familiar with the details of this new car list price tax
