Thinking of putting pressed plates on and ideally id like to sick them on like i have in past with acrylic, Some of the holders i have seen look awful.

Has any one got them and if so, how you fastened them on ?

Thanks in advance

I got pressed plates on and I'm also not keen on the plate surrounds ive double sided mine on with kent tape, its expensive but one of the best if not the best on the market

Hi Ricky,
Whats Kent tape and can i get that anywhere ?
normally id use sticky pads but i find that the front plate having that slight bend has coursed me problems in past

Yeah i find the sticky pads useless on anything like that you can get kent products online ill screen shot it for you failing that pop down to a local bodyshop they probably have some knocking around you can use.

Failing that I've never used it but possibly gorilla tape from b&q or wickes? Ive only ever heard good things about them so that maybe another option?

HI HOGG,
thats why im not keen on plate holders especially on front. The ones in your link i have saved in my eBay they could be good along with sticky pads

Just to clarify that those plate holders in the link are not what I eventually used and showed a photo of.

If you buy them, let me know as I'd like to see pics with them fitted to an A4

Started preparing my plate holders yesterday. There laser cut with plenty of mounting points. The backs are polished stainless steel. So gave them a good clean then primed before spraying satin black.
Had a trail fit of the plates today and looks good. Just need a nice warm day now to fix on car. The holders will be tapped and screwed on and the plates will have pads on.

Well guys I put my plates on yesterday, used some 3M double sided on the holders as well as screwing them. Then used number plate pads on the plates. The six tabs were then bent over and they looked good.
Only problem was when I came to change my plates on DVLA it would allow me :wtf:so as I couldn't contact them till Monday I had to take them off :sorry: and with them being metal and stuck on meant they're now no good as there bent and out of shape.:sorrow: Will be phoning them tomorrow to see what's what.

I dont see the point of sticking the plate holder to the car and then the plate to the plate holder, why not just stick the plate directly onto the car!

Quite simple really its because that's what I wanted to do. Had plates taken before so the harder ya make it the better

Why didn't you just stick the old plates on top of the pressed plates until you resolved the issue with the DVLA rather than wasting a set of plates?

O yes officer I have two different sets of plates on.
If it turns out I can't use em they would've had to come off any way, if it turns out I can then I'll just buy some more. £ 17 is cheaper then getting a fine and possibly points.

I see, the double stick method is used as a theft deterrent. Who the heck steals numberplates, what do the tea leafs do with them?

Pressed or 3d look a lot better i think gives it more depth and also cleans the area up made a big difference on mine anyway compared to the old ones, plus they last forever.

I’ve used loads of pressed plates, I just use either the sticky pads they came with or I have got a load of 3M sticky pads, if done properly you’ll struggle to pull them off.

Make sure you clean with IPA or something similar, and bend the plate for the curve of the bumper of it’s not flat before fitting.

Cars I take to shows I’ve fitted holders so I can put show plates on, but one of the lads uses 3M dual lock and has never had a plate fall off, it’d be easy to steal though.
