Well yesterday I got my A4 Allroad remapped along with a carbon deep clean... was just doing a bit of research & turned out they were around my area doing another job so just bit the bullet & went for it. Was through Northern Performance & got a combo deal for £280. I haven’t done much testing as of yet, but initial thoughts are that although it does seem like a MASSIVE change, the car IS quicker, much smoother & pulls in all gears compared to previous. 1st time I’ve ever had a remap so was unsure what to expect, but overall I’m happy. Just with getting both done at same time, not sure how much of the improvement is based on the remap or the carbon clean?? Hopefully the MPG will improve a bit (once I’ve had a bit play about)! I would recommend the company, answered any questions I had, seemed knowledgeable & everything was done on my drive.

Would anyone recommend a new air filter following Stage 1? I had a look in tonight & the 1 in there is Hengst. Is this as good as the rest... or better to replace with another make?

I have had a GTTDI Golf 52 plate remapped to 200bhp and a Audi A3 remapped to 180 in the past and the difference is incredible so 99% will be the remap not the clean

However my personal experience was 2 blown turbos on the golf and 1 blown on the Audi. Ive currently got an Audi A4 143 and wont be remapping it. Personally after a bit research and speaking to a mechanic today coincidentally, i dont think in the long run they are good for your car at all.
As an example The Audi A4 same model as my car (B8) With 170hp has an uprated turbo and injectors as standard for the sake of an extra 27hp. To me that says it all. If your car would be reliable with just a remapped ECU Audi themselves wouldnt uprate these parts as factory standard.

Probably an unpopular opinion but just my experience.

I did post on this forum asking about remaps to see other peoples opinion and seems to be a mixed view but ive decided against it this time, too costly in the end

I think it’s 1 of those where there will be mixed opinion based on experience following the remap. Yeah I’d read up about the uprated turbo in the 170hp, & majority of problems (blown turbos etc.) were from people remapping the 140... but as with cars which aren’t remapped, parts will fail (whether that’s down to driving style, faulty parts etc.) & just pot luck I suppose. Appreciate the feedback, hopefully will help people make a decision if pondering. If anything goes wrong I will let you all know.

You probably have a point there. The lower powered models with the smaller softer turbo is naturally not going to be as resilient to a remap. The slightly higher powered models with uprated turbo and injectors could probably handle a stage1 remap with no issues
