When browsing the forum I noticed I hadn’t updated the mods I had done to the car to date, so I thought I would create a thread to keep them all together.

So I have been doing a mixture of retrofits and subtle changes.

One retrofit in particular which was my favourite was the folding mirrors. I spent some time researching the part numbers, how its done, what I need etc. The first thing I needed was new door modules to support the folding function. These were the most expensive part of the retrofit.

After a few months of checking eBay I found a breakeryard in Ireland with the modules I needed at a VERY reasonable price, they were removed from an A4. So I purchased them and coded to match the A5.

I then ordered the mirror bases, switch, optic and trim piece directly from Audi and it took a Saturday morning to change everything over and recode.

The next modification was the fitting of the door puddle and warning lights, front/rear footwell lights and heater vent lighting. I contacted Trups for the loom, lenses and bulbs for these tasks.

Of course the genuine rings caught my attention at the dealership and I had to purchase a set, they really do look the part. Its difficult to capture on camera but they are brighter and crisp at night.

IMG 0769

I then got the rear lights wrapped in a light smoke tint, which I think it makes a big difference especially with the colour of the car and along the door blades and mirror caps wrapped in gloss black. The rear valance was sprayed gloss black and I changed the exhaust tips to black chrome which I picked up from Audi.

I am indeed John, its great working and learning on two different models of Audis! :) They both need full detail now that the good weather is starting to make an appearance. :icon thumright:

I had the A4 Revo Stage 1, maybe thats what your thinking off. But I certainly did notice a difference it was definitely worthwhile, so I am sure I will be more than happy with the A5 remapped also.

Recently I purchased a 034 Motorsport Transmission mount from another member on the forum, he hadn’t got around to fitting it and then he changed models so it was still in its packaging. :)

It arrived today and I got it installed in 15min or thereabouts, nice easy mod.

I am no expert but I can feel a difference after a quick spin, changing gears does feel smoother, but time will tell.

Was thinking about retrofitting the footwell lights and the puddle lights to my A5. Did you follow a guide or? Was it difficult?

Very nice car mate. Fair play with the mirrors!

Cheers guys! :)

@Chris6t9 Thanks, I found a guide on A5oc as far as I can remember along with some advice from Trups who I purchased the kits from. It wasn’t too bad of a retrofit and I would highly recommend doing it.

@Seanchadwick2k3 yeah I just edited the photo to remove the plate, always run with the front plate!:)

@CHEZ Haha, unfortunately Mrs Doyle was too busy making the tea!

Hi, sweet A5.....did the grill come woth the car or was it a mod?

If so where did you get it from?

Thanks

Just seen this thread @Point_Audi. Your A5 is looking great, and I see some nice OEM mods :icon thumright:.

Ordered up a few parts myself a few days back (what we discussed a few weeks back!).......Pat was telling me you must be due a change and thinks you’ll fit in perfectly as a master tech due to your VCDS knowledge!

Cheers bud, its just the standard grill, I photoshopped the number plate in black which is why it might look different!:)

Oh really, you will love them once they are fitted. Haha, I would love to but I am more than happy with the A5 great car mate. I wouldn’t say I am a master tech yet still learning VCDS, maybe one day!

Last year I purchased a set of used Genuine Audi A5 SE 17inch alloys to use as my winter wheel/tyre combo. The silver colour is always something that I wanted to change as it didn’t go well against the colour of the car!lol

I checked around a few local alloy wheel shops and was quoted more than what I paid for the alloys which I did expect. So I therefore decided to give it a shot myself having never repainted an alloy wheel before.

Here are the results before and after, I am over the moon with how they turned out, they are by no means a professional job, but they look great against the car in the gum-metal grey colour.

Hi chap,

I'm looking to do the folding mirrors on my A5 2014,

Can I ask did you just copy original coding for door modules and change the bit for enabling folding mirrors in #42 #52 and also enable in #46 ?

Any errors ?

Also the mirror switch straight swap with existing loom ?

Thanks

Hi there,
Loving your mods, and I'm doing a similar mod route.
I'm just in the process of changing door modules for highline. Would you be able to describe the coding process please.
I have Obdeleven.
2015 A5 S Line coupe

Thanks Rich

Did the stainless pedals come on the car mate? I fitted some to mine but the spacing is a bit weird - because the dead pedal is a lot wider, to get your foot on the clutch it has to go over to the right a lot, and then your right foot can't go totally on the brake pedal....got used to it after a couple of hundred miles but it can't be how it's supposed to feel.

Sorry for the late replies, comments below.

Thats exactly what I done, I copied the original coding and then went into the module and enabled the folding option along with module 46. As for the mirror switch its a straight swap, but you will need a new trim piece with the extra hole for the folding option.

Sure, so before you install your new highline modules, open up both the passengers and drivers side module and go to the coding option, from there make an exact copy of the long coding from each module. Next install the new highline modules and click on coding again, in the new coding field paste the relevant code from the old modules and click do it, this should recode the module.
Once this has been done go back to coding on each door module and find the folding mirror option and tick this.

No I fitted them myself mate, I found the same thing with the dead pedal, I believe its from an RS6. Some people show how to trim it etc, but I just removed it for now I will get to it at some point!lol

Hope that helps.

Hey Shaun,

Thanks for the reply.
One last question hopefully. With the coding, if I copy my current long coding will I still need to enable something for the puddle/warning lights and the door handle lighting.
Oh and can you confirm the pinouts for the puddle harness and the handle harness please.
My car is a 2015 A5 S Line coupe.

Much appreciated.

Rich

Hi,
Sorry to hijack but in your pic with the door module can anyone please highlight where I'd need to insert the wires if I wanted to add puddle and door warning lights? Think Its pins 18 & 19?

Thanks

I have been looking at getting a good rubber boot liner for the A5 and I came across this item on eBay which stated it was a tailored fit for the Audi A5 coupe. I must say for the price its a really good fitment and much cheaper than the OEM equivalent, hopefully its just as durable.

Here is a link to it if anyone is interested- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122536966216

The one I've got has been used in my A4, A5 & now the S5, it was an eBay job, nice thick rubber. My A5 came with an original one, it wasn't a patch on the eBay one, so I gave it away to a mate for his A4.
