Hi,

Does anyone know how to remove the front headrests? I tried looking for an obvious button but couldn't find one. Searched online and saw some videos were there is a magic hidden button at the back of the seat. I've tried pressing everywhere and just can't find it.

Coastie.

I don't think it is possible as from page 70 of the manual suggests only the rear ones can be removed by using the emergency key..

Hi there is no special button on the B9 you need a special tool KM-J-42372 which you insert down the front of the shaft which releases a clip. ive just come from a 2016 a6 which has the adjustable forward backwards movement headrest. i find the a4 headrest doesnt reach forward enough and i have about an inch gap from where im comfortable sitting from my head to the headrest.

Old thread, I know, but I had the same question, and couldn't locate the special tool.
So i figured out how to remove the headrests without using tools.

First you pull the headrest as high as it will go. Then you pull the plastic cover that the headrest goes through to reveal the guides in the seat. The right side guide is loose, but the left side is locked with a spring clip. The spring clip is released by pushing firmly on the top part of the left side guide (it will move about 5-6 mm down) and at same time pulling firmly up on the headrest. And presto - it comes off.

Hi guys and gals.
I have an A4 2019 Black Edition saloon. I need to remove the front headrests, but every video or help I receive is not working. The actual head rest moves up and down on the metal stantions/guides. They do not move. There is a plastic cover on the top of the seat which the metal stantions/guides goes through, but I am reluctant to force that off in case I break the lugs. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Jan......I have done it and I could not have done it without your help. Thank you so much.

Back seat drinks holder/tray now fitted for both seats.

In my 2019 A4 Avant S-Line I have the height adjustable head restraints, but I want the comfort adjustable models.
Who know the part-numbers for the comfort models (so I can search locally for them)?
I have the half-leather-half-fabric S-Line seats.

I have this model:

The leather is definately Soul Black, but that comes with different colour stitchings.
Mine have black stitching and you need grey.
Or maybe look at the sticker in the boot. It may mention the upholstery code.
And if everything else fails - consult your dealer.
