Hi a bit of advice please just swapped my gti for a brand new s3 and doesn't sound like I expected it to any help in what to do to make it sound a lot better thanks lee

Res delete seem popular.
Unfortunately wltp cars have an extra filter down the exhaust so everything is gonna sound a bit muted.

Thanks so if I done a res delete wound it sound much better and how about warranty on the vehicle ( thanks for quick reply)

Warranty would be void on the exhaust system.
Have a search here. It’s been talked about in length recently as wltp cars only came out last September.

I'm interested to know if you have the hatch or saloon? I owned a March 2019 reg hatchback for a month in May/June but rejected it due to paintwork issues and other things.

I now have a March 2019 saloon and have found it a lot quieter than the hatch registered at the same time. The hatch popped and made noises when downshifting but the saloon is very quiet. Just interested which shape you have

wheres the source for it being void only on the exhaust?

people keep saying that, but I've seen no evidence of it. I'd be surprised if it didn't void the entire warranty.

Exhaust is a 1 piece construction. Do you honestly think Audi would replace it under warranty after you cut a section out and replace it with an aftermarket piece?
It’s like you trying to make a warranty claim on a leaking headlight after you drilled a big hole in it.
Audi warranty is there for factory defects not there to warrant things you have mucked about with. There’s no reason for them to uphold the warranty after it’s been modified.

To further muddy the waters Audi North America offer a factory res delete part option with no warranty issues and you can not buy this res delete pipe from a UK dealer! Audi UK will offer no warranty on the exhaust system for any modification you do to it. Audi UK marketing strikes again as they often do to UK owners.

There’s an Audi sport part but Audi UK doesn’t recognise it so classes it as a modification. I had the part number before and asked at the dealer.
It’s just a straight through pipe.

I have the 2018 S3 saloon and was at an Audi drive event last weekend where I got to drive the new S3 hatch. I was amazed at the difference in noise, tried the launch control and other than the push back in your seat feeling it was devoid of anything else, really disappointing.
I will wait to see what the new 2020 S3 brings as some of the images look good but hopefully they can address the exhaust noise as for me it’s all part of the S3 package.

One plus side was it was running on 18” wheels and I did find the ride quality far superior than my 19” with magride, far less crashing around and soaked up minor road imperfections.

you've misunderstood me.

I'm saying that it's likely it voids the entire warranty. not just the exhaust.

My bad. I meant it voids the exhaust warranty not the entire warranty for the car.

yeah...and im saying what's the source that it only invalidates the exhaust warranty?

Well there’s the potential they could use it against you if your blow your motor or gearbox but realistically they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.
I’ve not put it to the test personally with an Audi but when I had a Honda the dealer said any part you replace with non genuine you essentially lose the warranty on that part and potentially anything it’s connected to. For an exhaust part it the engine/turbo. Similarly if you replace your discs and pads for Brembo branded ones you could lose the warranty on your calipers even though brembo makes the Audi ones.

it voids the exhaust warranty

motech do a package for the M135i which includes springs, spacers and exhaust. BMW confirmed it voids the repstive aspects as TRL offers the package on brand new cars leaving the show room

remember, for the first 2 years the warranty is group backed i.e by Audi GMBH so dealers rarely kick back as they claim parts and labour off group - obvoulsy if the issue leaves their claim potentially open for rejection by group they will push back on you

because in the UK we offer 3 years warranty the third year is dealer backed and so comes from their P&L - therefore third years is typically more difficult to get warranty claims signed ff that are less black and white in nature as the dealer carries the risk
