Okay, so the short of this is as follows!

Bought my 1.9tdi Audi A4 B6

Pervious owner said it had been remapped to 180bhp but didn't have a Dyno print out or the likes to show

The car fly's for what it is

The turbo has been replaced but I'm not sure what with!

What do completely stock Audi A4 1.9tdis make via a remap? Can 180bhp be made without gutting the cat?

With a gutted cat and a good remap from a respected tuner can the Audi A4 pass emissions? (Cat gutted to look stock)

Depends on the dyno, bone stock probably 175 max, decat maybe 180, anyone with more is speculating power or running on an optimistic dyno. If it's been mapped without a print out it's anyone's guess really (usually less than what people quote in my experience) but line on the graph probably makes more difference than the actual bhp in everyday drivability (used to think people saying this were talking rubbish until my 3rd and final map with a linier line; big difference!). If the turbo's been swapped to a hybrid one or something a bit bigger it might make a figure starting with a 2 but who knows, best way to check is get it on a dyno.

It feels nippy and the power is coming in nicely from around 1000-1500 rpm, not sure how the stock ones feel but it's got plenty of go, feels a dam site more nippy then my 150bhp Mégane 1.5dci I had before! See my problem is I can't see the money balance in putting the car on the Dyno around here as they all want 150-200 for 3 Dyno pulls, when I can get a rolling road remap for a stock car done for around 300-350, sorta out weighs itself IMO

To be fair my bone stock 1.9tdi felt relatively quick compared to cars I was used to as well but who knows, where are you based? Do a few dyno days around where I live for about £50, best place to ask is local car groups in my experience. All my cars feel fast until I come up against something faster haha don't even own an Audi anymore but a four wheel drive 260bhp Mazda saloon, if your really skint bring it Birmingham and we'll compare :playful:

MPS by any chance? I have a gen 2 MPS3 so coming from a 378whp 367lbft (410BHP 400LBFT at the crank) car into a PD130 I can tell it's not as slow as I was expecting!

If I can find a Dyno run day I can tag along to I will give it a run, but I'm not in a rush, the two things I'm interested in is 1. Does it already have a gutted cat and can I expect there to be a cost to have that put back to stock come MOT time and 2. The bloke said him and his brother put the map on, so I'm expecting the pistons to melt any day now!

The turbo was replaced by his mechanic 2000 miles before I bought the car, I'm not sure if it's a larger one then stock, but I assume the later PD170 turbos wouldn't spool and give a good shunt on the but Dyno from 1000-1500rpm? Lol

Yeah mate MPS.

Stock turbo does spool better lower down unless the PD170 turbo has straight pipe and a reputable map (ask how I know, had two laggy maps before one that made it feel like a big n/a petrol car).

In terms of cat who knows without removal, diesels can easily pass with decats anyway.

I don't know enough about what's been done to make the car faster at the moment, I'm suspecting it's not stock, the guy I bought it off said the make of the turbo that was put in was a Garrett?
