Were power folding mirrors a.....?

Hi,

Were power folding mirrors an optional extra on the S3 8V FL / PFL or did they come as standard?

Someone drove into my door, smashing the mirror and completely destroying the door. I've just purchased a door in the same colour and put it all back together, using the same wiring loom from the car etc.

The mirror is the standard S3 aluminium finish, as the door was off an s3, but it's not power folding like the other side is, and seems to be just way too easy to fold manually (I know the power fold ones are quite stiff to move manually with your hands), so I'm wondering, are power fold mirrors an optional extra, or has someone put an s3 mirror cap on a standard door?

on FL too, my friend has a MY17 BE with no power folding mirrors

Don’t think they are ever standard on any Audi’s.
Remember my mate was so disappointed after speccing a £60k+ A7 and it turned up with no folding mirrors. It’s one box that he forgot to tick after ticking everything else.

Yep, it's scandalous that folding mirrors are not standard on a car of this class/price point.
Surprisingly though, there are some people that do not like folding mirrors for some reason and are glad that Audi have them as optional.

Yep folding mirrors, not even standard on my S5 which was a huge surprise come collection as I assumed they would be (silly me)

Definitely an option on all A3/S3/RS3, both PFL and FL. There is a retro fit thread on here about it, so it can be installed OK.

My sisters 10 year old ford came out the factory with them as standard. The car was £7500 new

The power fold mirrors were an option even with BE spec. Not a particularly expensive option but handy we find when leaving it at the airport ( the only place I can rarely "extreme park!")....... :blush:
