Hi, as per title, i am thinking to do a turbo kit which will allow fitting of more modern turbochargers to replace the aging gt1749va turbochargers as fitted to the 1.9 tdi and 2.0 tdi engines. I would include a tubular log style manifold which will allow the correct positioning of the turbo so it does not foul onto the engine mounts and will come complete with braided oil feed and drain pipes, all necessary silicone reducers and mikalor style clamps and custom laser cut exhaust manifold flanges.
I know that many of you will be like why bother if the bv43 of the pd170 is plug and play ? Well, my turbo kit will allow fitting of later, more efficient bv43a or bv43b turbochargers which have higher temperature CHRA, come with a billet compressor wheel as standard and feature extended tip technology and much better trim for daily driven vehicles + are readily available aftermarket.
The bv43a will support 200-220 Bhp reliably and will spool lightning fast unlike the pd170 turbo which is rather laggy on the older pd130 engines ! Another reason to not use the pd170 bv43 is the high initial purchase price, being fiited standard in a4 which was built in limited numbers between 2006-2007 they are scarce and command high prices aftermarket + most places will ask for the core to be returned which puts the turbo at £350-450 before it's even fitted ! Also most rebuilt bv43 use cheap Chinese CHRA's and might not be balanced properly ! As with everything in life you get what you pay for...
